Posted May 22, 20187 yr 6YNZlXfW6Ho British singer Ella Mai released her third EP 'Ready' all the way back in February 2017 and single "Boo'd Up" is currently on the cusp of entering the Billboard Hot 100 (#11 this week). Apparently it will be the first R&B song by an unaccompanied female soloist to reach the top 10 since "Love on the Brain" if it gets there :o It's a decent enough track but definitely feels catered to the US. She's signed to (DJ) Mustard's label so it makes sense but I'm surprised it hasn't received a push in the UK yet. I've only listened to the first three tracks and I couldn't really differentiate between them but I'll give the full EP a try. Tracklist: 1. "Boo'd Up" 2. "Breakfast in Bed" 3. "Nobody Else" 4. "My Way" 5. "Makes Me Wonder" 6. "Anymore"
May 22, 20187 yr Boo'd Up is nothing special, baffling that it's become such a hit. Can't see it doing anything in the UK anyway, it's very US RNB.
May 23, 20187 yr Really like Boo'd Up, sounds great in the sun. Wouldn't surprise me to see it become a sleeper hit here too!
May 24, 20187 yr Boo'd Up is a jam, reminds me of 90s R&B and it's very refreshing to see something like this become a big hit in this day & age

July 5, 20187 yr So impressed with this, reminds me of 90's R&B and really impressive to see a British singer have such a huge smash on their hands before they make any impact on the UK - has that ever happened before?
July 6, 20187 yr This is such a grower! Didn't think much of it at first but it really creeps up on you
July 6, 20187 yr so f***ing smooth, for me it sounds a lil more like mid 00s alicia keys or mary j blige than 90s r&b tho. 106 & Park smash Edited July 6, 20187 yr by dhwe
September 24, 20186 yr Author W16bk86xIY0 She released her new single "Trip" at the start of August and it's already top 30 in the US! It sounds a lot more instant than "Boo'd Up" on first couple of listens. The latter has grown on me a lot since I first heard it though, it's a shame it never turned into a hit in the UK though - peaking at #52 and already out of the top 100. "Trip" is currently at #95 though so could climb further although it's nowhere on the Spotify chart at the moment.
