So, as with last year, it's time to see whether my Top 20 from last year would remain the same if the chart was to be compiled now (spoiler: it won't, otherwise this would be a bit dull :P ) or whether some songs have grown or completely faded in my mind.

Here's the Top 20 as a reminder:

1 Alessia Cara - Seventeen

2 Declan McKenna - The Kids Don't Wanna Come Home

3 Sheppard - Keep Me Crazy

4 Finn Kleffman - Head Over Heels

5 Sia - Never Give Up

6 We the Lion - Found Love

7 Alle Farben & Janieck - Little Hollywood

8 MOWE - Back in the Summer

9 Aedhi - Next to You

10 Bad Sounds - Meat on My Bones

11 C-BooL - DJ Is Your Second Name

12 Galantis - Rich Boy

13 Walk Off the Earth - Taekwondo

14 New Politics - One of Us

15 CoCo & the Butterfields - Battlegrounds

16 Lukas Graham - Off to See the World

17 Avicii ft. Vargas & Lagola - Friend of Mine

18 Oceans - Cold Ain't For Me

19 Casting Crowns - Oh My Soul

20 AJR ft. Rivers Cuomo - Sober Up

Starting as soon as my ranking is complete!

:right: 20 [20] AJR ft. Rivers Cuomo - Sober Up

Peak: 03 / Month of Peak: September 2017

AJR's Chart History:

2017 05 I'm Not Famous

2017 05 Weak

2017 03 Sober Up (AJR ft. Rivers Cuomo)

2018 01 Come Hang Out

Rivers Cuomo's Chart History:

2017 03 Sober Up (AJR ft. Rivers Cuomo)

2018 84 I Still Wanna Know (RAC ft. Rivers Cuomo) (Goldroom Remix)

So remaining in 20th position is AJR's Sober Up, which I probably boosted into 20th place in the hope that it might climb in the Reshuffle. Well unfortunately it hasn't, and whilst it's still a good song, it doesn't leave a cosy or nostalgic feeling really, and the fact that the radio haven't really stopped playing it since last December have removed part of the 'nice reminder' factor. Plus AJR released Come Hang Out this year, which is something really different and quite nice.

 19 [09] : Aedhi & Clément Bcx - Next To You

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: February 2017

Aedhi's Chart History

2017 01 Next To You (Aedhi & Clément Bcx)

Clément Bcx's Chart History

2016 03 Miracle in the Middle of My Heart

2017 01 Next To You (Aedhi & Clément Bcx)

And so one of the biggest drops in this chart comes next with Aedhi losing 10 places. It's not that it's a bad song - I still really enjoy it - I just think it was a really odd song for me to put at the top of my charts - I don't even think it was pushed as an official single. With a genre of music that is unfortunately going out of favour with the music industry, this is unlikely to be a song I'll look back on in 5 years time.

 18 [19] Casting Crowns - Oh My Soul

Peak: 02 / Month of Peak: May 2017

Casting Crowns' Chart History:

2016 24 The Very Next Thing

2017 02 Oh My Soul

2017 01 Make Room (Casting Crowns ft. Matt Maher)

2017 06 Gloria/Angels We Have Heard on High

Moving up a place we have Oh My Soul, which hasn't really made a massive impression on me since the start of the year, although it's kept up more than Aedhi so it rises. Since this track was released, Make Room became the Christmas #1 for last year and I think that will be the song I remember more from this worship group, although I am looking forward to new material from Casting Crowns!

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: May 2017

Oceans' Chart History:

2017 01 Cold Ain't For Me

2017 01 Deep Blue

Another track that only moves up due to me not going off it as quickly as Aedhi, Cold Ain't For Me climbs a place to 17. Whatever happened to Oceans anyway? They released two amazing tracks then seemed to disappear into nowhere. I hope they get something new out soon, all their music is very instant, hence why I loved Cold Ain't For Me so much. It still reminds me of doing work in college though.

Peak: 03 / Month of Peak: March 2017

CoCo and the Butterfields' Chart History:

2017 03 Battlegrounds

Down one is one of my all-time favourite BJSC tracks (even though I only gave it seven points oops) Battlegrounds. The reason it's fallen is because it doesn't really 'get' me in the way it used to, and the quirky-ness has begun to wear off on me. They're also yet to release anything else for me to stan so I've not had any new music to be invigorated by.

 15 [11]: C-BooL ft. Giang Pham - DJ Is Your Second Name

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: June 2017

C-BooL's Chart History

2016 02 Never Go Away

2016 06 Magic Symphony (C-BooL ft. Giang Pham)

2017 01 DJ Is Your Second Name (C-BooL ft. Giang Pham)

2018 01 Wonderland

Giang Pham's Chart History

2016 06 Magic Symphony (C-BooL ft. Giang Pham)

2017 01 DJ Is Your Second Name (C-BooL ft. Giang Pham)

Now this is as funky as it ever was, and I feel a bid bad dropping it this far down, but the songs below it have all grown on me or held up completely, causing this to fall down four. It's also partly down to this type of music getting more and more out of favour with the general public, making me resort more and more to indie to keep me happy, and whilst the Polish DJ has gained his second #1 this year, I can't see it reaching the EOY Top 20.

 14 [16] Lukas Graham - Off to See the World

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: October 2017

Lukas Graham's Chart History:

2016 01 7 Years

2016 09 Golden (Brandon Beal ft. Lukas Graham)

2016 01 You're Not There

2016 02 What Happened to Perfect

2016 03 Funeral

2016 10 Don't You Worry 'Bout Me

2016 04 Take the World By Storm

2017 10 Drunk in the Morning

2017 01 Off to See the World

Up a couple of places we have the world's-best-band-and-anyone-who-disagrees-needs-their-ears-replacing (:kink:) Lukas Graham. Admittedly this is no 7 Years, hence why it's not doing wonders in this chart, however it's held up quite well and kept me content whilst we wait for the second album. Since that weird Danish track they featured on didn't go Top 100 here, their 100% Top 10 record is kept up (however their next album will end that if it has more than 10 songs on it :P )

 13 [12] Galantis - Rich Boy

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: March 2017

Galantis' Chart History

2016 03 No Money

2016 19 Make Me Feel (Galantis & East & Young)

2016 02 Love On Me (Galantis & Hook N Sling)

2016 23 Pillow Fight

2017 01 Rich Boy

2017 24 Hunter

2017 74 True Feeling

2017 49 Girls On Boys (Galantis & ROZES)

2017 01 Tell Me You Love Me (ft. Throttle)

2017 47 Hello

2017 53 Salvage (Up All Night) (Galantis & Poo Bear)

2018 09 Spaceship (Galantis ft. Uffie)

Again, this song remains as amazing as it ever was, it's just the fact that a couple of other songs have overtaken it. I still hate the fact that this was the single which basically ended Galantis' career in the UK when it's one of their best, and Spaceship is almost as good - the fact that it's much more difficult to go Top 10 in my chart now certainly showing here.

Did Lukas Graham's best song Mama Said not chart for you at all? :o

Did Lukas Graham's best song Mama Said not chart for you at all? :o

It was at the point at which I had quite a strict three-month rule on my charts and by the time it had been released as a single it was already over half a year old (since the video for Mama Said was released before the 7 Years video) - it would have definitely have charted otherwise!

 12 [10]: Bad Sounds - Meat On My Bones

Peak: 04 / Month of Peak: May 2017

Bad Sounds' Chart History:

2016 15 Wages

2017 04 Meat On My Bones

2017 15 Zacharia

2017 07 Living Alone

2017 22 Hot Head Chippenham

2018 74 Evil Powers

Again, this is still a great song, and this is exactly the type of music I wish was flying up the charts, but in time stuff like this does start to get old. This descent is definitely partly down to the fact that everything they've released since Hot Head Chippenham has been only slightly short of dreadful. Maybe I'm being a bit mean, but I want the funky Bad Sounds back :(

New Politics' Chart History:

2017 02 One of Us

2017 37 CIA

2018 10 Color Green

My Personal Chart debut from this band, it's their highest peaker to date and I still feel bad for their 4-44 drop out of the Top 40 on New Format week, especially considering the fact that it's held up exceptionally! A really cheery indie track, I've still not worked out what it reminds me of but it's still an earworm. Colo(u)r Green was an amazing follow up as well, and WHERE'S THE NEXT SINGLE

Peak: 02 / Month of Peak: March 2017

We the Lion's Chart History:

2017 02 Found Love

2017 69 So Fine

This is another one I feel really bad knocking down so far, but the truth is it's not held up as much as I'd have liked it to. It's quite a mellow country track with a cheery vocal and lyrics but it wouldn't particularly cheer me up if I was worried. Of course I still love it, I'm just not sure I'll remember this Peruvian chart smash as a song which defined this year for me.

 9 [3]: Sheppard - Keep Me Crazy

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: April 2017

Sheppard's Chart History:

2017 01 Keep Me Crazy

2017 01 Edge of the Night

2017 25 Coming Home

2018 23 Riding the Wave

Sheppard really took a tumble after two stellar tracks didn't they :( And they've taken quite a tumble here as well. Keep Me Crazy was something new and refreshing at the time, but the fact that Coming Home sounded pretty much exactly the same means it doesn't feel like a year since it was out. Edge of the Night was so funky and out there though that it would probably have overtaken this if songs outside the Top 20 were included (with it being at #21 last year).

Poor Keep Me Crazy :( Coming Home was decent but like you said it wasn't anything special

Poor Keep Me Crazy :( Coming Home was decent but like you said it wasn't anything special

I still really like Keep Me Crazy, it's just not good enough to be Top 3 anymore :( Still waiting for a third stellar track from them - thanks Dexton!

 8 [17]: Avicii ft. Vargas & Lagola - Friend of Mine

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: September 2017

Avicii's Chart History:

2017 01 Friend of Mine (Avicii ft. Vargas & Lagola)

2017 27 Without You (Avicii ft. Sandro Cavazza)

2017 23 Lonely Together (Avicii ft. Rita Ora)

2017 65 You Be Love (Avicii ft. Billy Raffaoul)

2018 09 Trouble

2018 18 Somewhere in Stockholm

2018 32 Back Where I Belong (Otto Knows & Avicii)

2018 46 Can't Catch Me

2018 58 Hey Brother

2018 76 Levels

2018 94 Broken Arrows

And (what I think is) our biggest climber this year is Avicii's Friend Of Mine. This is partly down to the tragic events of last April, which led to me breaking my chart rules to allow a multitude of Avicii tracks enter for the first time, but this song also remains a solid song, and a reminder that Avicii always held true to his style of music. Let's hope he leaves a legacy and is remembered for his amazing work more than his death.

 7 [13] : Walk of the Earth - Taekwondo

Peak: 03 / Month of Peak: August 2017

Walk Off The Earth's Chart History:

2016 02 Hold On (The Break)

2016 04 I'll Be Waiting

2017 20 Fire In My Soul

2017 03 Taekwondo

2017 89 NOMAD

Another climber now for Walk Off the Earth's Taekwondo, which - let's face it - probably entered the Top 10 due to me seeing them live at Leeds Arena (along with lots of other people looking at the queue half a mile down the road and saying 'I thought they weren't popular!' :P ). A very good comeback single from them, this is exactly what I wanted from them and remains their second best track, although they played a song called Fifth Avenue live which could get them another Top 10 single. They better release it quickly because I'm sick of that abomination of a single NOMAD being the last thing on their chart history.

 6 [8]: MOWE ft. Cleah - Back in the Summer

Peak: 01 / Month of Peak: May 2017

MOWE's Chart History:

2016 01 Lovers Friends (MOWE & Daniel Nitt)

2016 06 Your Skin (MOWE ft. Bright Sparks)

2016 01 Back In the Summer (MOWE ft. Cleah)

2017 01 Boy Oh Boy (MOWE ft. Jerry Williams)

2017 01 Skyline

2017 15 One Love

2018 67 Around the World (MOWE ft. Lisa Pac)

2018 04 Who's To Blame

Cleah's Chart History:

2016 01 Back In the Summer (MOWE ft. Cleah)

Now this one takes me all the way back to December 2016 when it first hit #1, which feels like an age away now! This is one of the few songs bucking the trend, where the artist has gone downhill (their last single didn't even reach my Top 100 oops) but the song still sounds amazing and has actually climbed! This winter-y world influenced tropical bop is still one of their best (only behind Lovers Friends maybe?) and still sounds great today.
