Andrew's ReviewNow That’s What I Call Music! 91 otherwise known as Now 91 was released in the summertime of 2015 and featured 44 tracks of Top 40 hits, with 8 of these being UK #1 singles too. It offered us a first time in the series to listen to music from Major Lazer, Nick Jonas (as a solo artist), Kygo, Galantis and Fifth Harmony.

Omissions were few and far between, though there were some minor hits that were overlooked. The artists who were not selected included Alesso, Duke Dumont, Nathan Sykes, Ella Eyre, Taylor Swift, Lawson, Dappy, Zedd and others.

Almost a third of this volume is made up of artists who are yet to make another appearance in the series. This has been the only volume in the series so far to feature music from OMI, Aston Merrygold (as a solo artist), WALK THE MOON, Natalie La Rose, Lost Frequencies, David Zowie, Skrillex, Krept & Konan, Deorro, LunchMoney Lewis, Sam Feldt, Pep & Rash, Dr. Kucho! and Lethal Bizzle.

Artwork Rating: 7/10 Very Good

There’s not many things in life more fun than playing at a water park in the summertime! This artwork encapsulates the fun adventures that such a place affords you! Multiple water slides leading to a big splash at the end always puts a smile on any persons face! A great idea for a volume artwork!

Disc 1 Favourite: Major Lazer & DJ Snake feat. MØ – Lean On

This was the first time I heard music from any of these three artists, even though they had been around a while by this point. I was of course impressed with the way this song sounded and then how well it did in the charts. Probably still the best song by Major Lazer to this day.

Disc 2 Favourite: Kygo feat. Conrad Sewell – Firestone

Another debut single from this volume this time from one of the pioneers of tropical house music. This single was a personal favourite from the summer which I recall discovering from using Shazam. One of many great Kygo hits to come.

Disc 3 Tracklist:

(A concept of what a third disc might look like if other hits from the era were used)

1. Taylor Swift feat. Kendrick Lamar – Bad Blood 3:20 {4}

2. Alesso feat. Roy English – Cool 3:41 {10}

3. Zedd feat. Selena Gomez – I Want You To Know 3:59 {14}

4. AronChupa – I’m An Albatraoz 2:46 {25}

5. DJ S.K.T feat. Rae – Take Me Away 2:50 {19}

6. Duke Dumont – The Giver (Reprise) 3:15 {32}

7. Petite Meller – Baby Love 3:41 {30}

8. Ella Eyre – Together 3:33 {12}

9. Nathan Sykes – Kiss Me Quick 3:07 {14}

10. Pitbull & Ne-Yo – Time Of Our Lives 3:49 {27}

11. Britney Spears & Iggy Azalea – Pretty Girls 2:43 {16}

12. Rihanna – Bitch Better Have My Money 3:39 {27}

13. KSI feat. P. Money – Lamborghini 2:56 {30}

14. Skepta – Shutdown 3:08 {39}

15. Ne-Yo feat. Juicy J – She Knows 3:34 {28}

16. Charles Hamilton feat. Rita Ora – New York Raining 3:34 {29}

17. Dappy – Beautiful Me 3:35 {19}

18. Stevie McCrorie – Lost Stars 3:16 {6}

19. Olly Murs – Seasons 3:37 {34}

20. Lawson – Roads 3:37 {11}

21. Rixton – We All Want The Same Thing 3:45 {21}

22. Taylor Swift – Style 3:51 {21}

23. Kodaline – The One 3:52 {27}

----------

Total time: 1:19:08

Overall Rating: 8/10 Extremely Good

With so few songs making an impact in the Top 40 charts it was always going to be a volume full of huge chart hits with very few noteworthy omissions. This volume was the first to have its release on a Friday as part of the new chart rules implemented. A good selection of genres and plenty of dance music for the summer too!

5. Kygo feat. Conrad Sewell – Firestone 3:24 {8}

Artwork: 7/10:

I'ts nice and summery but not too memorable I don't think

Overall: 8/10

Bad Blood, Cool, and I Want You To Know all deserved to be here tbh - great songs and only Taylor really has a reason to be an omission. A few others (Geronimo especially) would've been fantastic left-field entries but are sadly missing. There's lots of good songs on Disc One but Disc Two is where it gets so so so much better tbh, Fester Skank is the only song on Disc Two I'm not a fan of!
