Well this is a surprise :') Sinead looked like she would turn into a half decent character for like...a week when she was first with Daniel but that was stifled with that awful abortion storyline and her going straight back to Chesney, and although she and Daniel are back on she's just the same :lol: SUCH a nag, I can think of no redeeming features. can we also comment on the fact someone gave her a 10 WHAT

Faye has literally done nothing since having a baby apart from an HIV scare that lasted for 5 minutes and stalk Eileen for helping her mum get sent down, and tbh I can see why she would be angry but she came off so unlikeable :lol:

Chesney is my personal -1, he hasn't been funny or entertaining in any way since like 2007 :mellow: No offense to the actor but I don't get why he wasn't axed years ago and better characters have been. He's ACHINGLY boring and please to god can they not pair the fabulous Gemma up with him, but I can see this happening :(

She's going on maternity leave soon, let's hope she takes care of her baby for a while before returning back to work *.* It says a lot that Fiz's most significant storyline since Kirsty (who needs to come back) and Tyrone's abuse is her using her daughter's cancer to get money AFTER she'd recovered !! Honestly awful, you can tell her and Chesney are related. Her and Tyrone are suited to each other definitely but he's way better, idk Fiz is just one of those characters me (and others) hate for no particular reason :lol:

I doubt he'd even be higher now :lol: Sean is unbearable tbh, Anthony Cotton is the worst actor on the show and basically plays himself.

Aadi and Asha have definitely been developed more in the past year or so, I'm liking the friendship group with them Summer and Amy although it seems to be mostly the latter two recently.

I'm quite sad Alya's this low tbh, I'm sure she'd be higher if it was done more recently. I love seeing a different side to her running the factory but

What a dreadful character, the worst not just in Corrie but perhaps in all of soap for me. An utter vacuum of charisma and personality.

67 / Max Turner 3.63

I was absolutely shocked to learn he was 12 on Corrie wiki when I was getting a picture, he acts about 8? :lol: Despite a very turbulent few years for his family Max has barely been used recently, and judging by this score I doubt many are disappointed!

 

66 / Kate Connor 3.63 (more 7's)

Initially I thought Kate was just a fairly bland character (not her winning the best Newcomer award at the NTA's when she hadn't even had a single storyline) until the Rana affair which has put her in a different light. Apart from the Kana shippers (and even some of them :kink:) she's almost universally disliked and I can see why, she comes across as selfish and her and Rana have no chemistry tbh. I'm not convinced by the actress either, although she has been slightly better in the Aidan story.

 

65 / Hope Stape 3.69

Hope is played by a really good child actress and on the whole I think Corrie has the best younger cast by far! Hope's behavior in the past year has sparked concern from Fiz and Tyrone, especially after it was pinned on Ruby (QUEEN) the whole time. I howled at the hypocrisy of Fiz saying Ruby's behaviour could be from Kirsty then strangely forgetting Hope's psycho dad who kidnapped a teenager and murdered people :')

 

64 / Alex Warner 3.75

Alex is a pleasant character but hasn't been seen too much, only appearing in 12 episodes this year so far. I can't remember his last scene not at the cafe and he never even speaks to Cathy nowadays, so he feels a bit redundant tbh.

Omg how is he this high. Jude was honestly a contender for my -1, he's really dragged down Mary and stopped me enjoying her (apart from the scenes she has with Tracy) and don't get me started on that abysmal 'not actually a marine biologist' storyline earlier this year...a contender for the worst EVER? :lol:

 

61 / Brian Packham 4.00 (more 9's)

Who was asking for them to bring back this irritant? Brian is one of the reasons why I can't take Kate Oates seriously when she says their's comedy mixed in with the high drama, that doesn't mean anything if the comedy's godawful :') His most memorable storyline since he came back is his relationship with Cathy which is lowkey unbearable and has ruined Cathy who I'll get to soon (spoilers x). Particularly the Christmas day episode which had bad acting and bad storyline for both of them. Thankfully, Brian hasn't been in the show much this year.

Kate isn't THAT bad imo, I like her and Rana although she can be a bit selfish and she is worse when she's doing something of her own accord away from that storyline. She was good through the Kaz stuff too although ik that was 2 years ago or so.

 

 

Jude's storyline is definitely a contender for worst ever, not to mention the fact that Angie is an accountant and surely would have cottoned on that they had much less money than she was expecting as ofc you get much less for working in a gift shop than being a marine biologist :lol: But even without that, it was so stupid and contrived and served little to not point other than causing trouble between a couple who'd just arrived and ruining Mary. The nadir was Mary hiring actors to pretend to be Jude's co-workers.... :manson:

No losses yet, Sinead is a well-deserved last place and I'm thrilled Alya is so low too, I can't stomach her character recently. Kate isn't much better. Jude is a total wet blanket, although I guess I kinda enjoy Brian, in an "if you can't beat him, join him" kinda way :lol:

60 / Billy Mayhew 4.13

The world's worst vicar finishes surprisingly high. Billy is probably the only vicar to have killed someone in a car crash, kept it a secret for 15 years then got addicted to heroin. Which it appears he's miraculously recovered from? :') I wouldn't be surprised if that was a storyline cooked up as filler after Bruno Langley's axing, but it was still ridiculous. Does anyone else remember the godawful flash the tortoise storyline with Mandy and Jenna (who are equally as awful although Mandy is kinda iconic), Lloyd's ex-girlfriend and daughter respectively? Apparently that was the filler for when Bill Roache was under arrest, not their best storylines :')

 

59 / Emma Brooker 4.13 (more 8's)

Kinda irritating but harmless I guess, she's not done much but give the odd one liner in the salon or shade Audrey but I could see her being used a lot by Iain MacCloud like he did with Lydia and Tracy in Emmerdale (thankfully she's nowhere near as unbearable as Lydia x)

 

58 / Cathy Matthews 4.25

Grrrr. Ngl, I'm actually angry about what they've done to Cathy. Initially, she was portrayed as an intelligent woman of the world, who liked ROY and was socially awkward. She could've been a Corrie great imo, especially as Melanie Hill is a great actress but they've chosen to take her down the 'idiot' route with Brian. I still don't mind her as such but she could've been so much more, although it was confirmed she'd be like this in that embarrassingly bad 'vendetta? ain't that posh ice cream?' scene :')

 

57 / Ruby Dobbs 4.63

QUEEN. *.* Ruby is my favourite kid by a mile, her one liners and putting Fiz in her place are incredible *.*

 

56 / Summer Spellman 4.75

I lowkey can't stand her, I have no idea why I gave her a 5 oops. I know she's only a child but the actress is so flat and monotone, I'm this close to falling asleep :') Tbf she was okay when her dad had died. I think this whole storyline with Summer has been a mistake, Todd (while he was in the show) should never have been tied down with a kid and I hate Billy so it's a no from me.

 

55 / Toyah Battersby 5.13

What happened to the fun, ambitious Toyah from her original stint? :mellow: Now she's a complete misery, running a backstreet pub (or was running) and generally spreading bitterness everywhere :'( I get her struggle with the baby but that story along with the aforementioned Marine Biologist and Billy on drugs has been one of the worst this year, completely pointless and nailing down the coffin on Toyah's character even more :lol: I'm sure I heard Georgia Taylor saying she'd only come back if it was a good storyline so I struggle to believe this is what she was told she'd get.

 

54 / Ken Barlow 5.19

Not Ken Barlow, 58 years and counting Corrie legend finishing below a character who's appeared in 17 episodes !!

 

53 / Jess Haywood 5.25

I probably shouldn't have included her tbh as she's barely appeared, but here we go. She's basically a supporting character for Craig who could disappear for months, or maybe even never appear again and no one would notice really but who knows they could develop her more!

 

52 / Sophie Webster 5.31

I regret giving Sophie such a low score, because she's really come into her own (the character and Brooke Vincent's portrayal of her) in the past few months. Sophie works best without a love interest imo, Maddie was okay on her own but her and Sophie just didn't work and Sian got awful towards the end :lol:

 

51 / Dev Alahan 5.31 (more 8's)

An icon. The actor is abysmal but that's part of the fun tbh, Dev isn't a character you take seriously and works well as a background character. A story for him now and again would be welcome though imo!! I'm actually shocked he's so low.

Toyah deserves better than that imo, one of the best things about the show even with her questionable motives. Georgia Taylor always puts in a brilliant performance!

 

I don't think they've ever known what to do with Cathy. She's certainly felt like a spare part since leaving Roy and I wasn't even that bothered with her before.

I kind of like Emma, but she is quite pointless :lol: They've brought in new characters which they said was to fill the 6 episodes and expand the street a bit alongside the new set, but like many of them she hasn't been developed and is just there.

 

Georgia Taylor is easily one of the best actresses the show has but Toyah is a terrible character, I agree she's really written quite awfully.

 

Summer is possibly the worst of the child cast, completely lifeless and dull almost on a Sinead level. She is only a kid but there's been some great younger actors who've dealt with quite challenging and heavy stuff.

50 / Josh Tucker 5.44

I don't think anyone can deny Josh is an excellent villain played well, the 'lights off tonight' scene gave me the chills more than Pat Phelan ever could. One thing I'm not keen on though is Corrie's obsession with vigilante justice, I get they have to make it realistic and Josh probably wouldn't go to prison sadly but after the most recent storyline and Bethany glassing an innocent man being excused, it's not sending out the best message. Billy getting involved though :manson:

 

49 / Angie Appleton 5.44

I've explained my thoughts on Jude (GET HIM AWAY FROM HER X) but Angie has so much potential away from him :( I'd love to see Angie become a superbitch and form a friendship with Abi and Tracy as she's only really communicated with Adam and Toyah away from her family it's been a while there iirc.

 

48 / Abi Franklin 5.44

Speaking of Abi....best new character in ages :wub: the actress is one of the best they have as Abi can be so many things but is still believable as a single character, you can tell she's still an addict but is so desperate for her kids etc. I ship her and Steve ;o although it might be a bit too similar to him and Becky.

 

47 / Ryan Connor 5.50

Ryan's definitely being played better and coming across better than when Sol Heras did it, for some reason that Ryan was hyped as some god like hot guy but this one is better on every level! Him and Bethany seem to be done if I'm not mistaken and I'm still waiting for more from Ryan than the ladz ladz ladz persona.

 

46 / Amy Barlow 5.50

Amy was good for about a scene at Deidre funeral but I've always found her an irritating overrated brat otherwise, sorry x She (and most of the kids) has been featured less this year it seems.

 

45 / Imran Habeeb 5.57

I wanted to punch him on Friday when he took Duncan's side </3 but otherwise a very promising new addition, I loved his attitude to Rana AND he could be my lawyer any day x

 

44 / Maria Connor 5.81

I'm sad to see Maria fairly low as she's grown so much lately, all because she's stopped being a bitch and actually been likable *.* It's been a very eventful year for Maria and at the end of it all she's now competing with Audrey in probably the best storyline atm lmaooo, teaming up with Claudia though I have I feeling she's being scammed ;o

 

43 / Robert Preston 5.88

Robert was only brought back to expose the fire secret (omg remember that, christ) and add to the extremely tedious feud between Tracy and Carla, I'm amazed he's still in the show! for a time last year it felt like Robert would never catch a break and it was getting boring, him and Michelle going all bonnie and clyde at the bistro was cringy af as well :') I'm still not convinced on him and Michelle as a pairing (have they just forgotten about the wedding after Phelan? :lol:) and he's so wooden, although the silver hair certainly suits him :smoke: *.*

 

42 / Gina Seddon 6.00

Gina has so much potential and Connie Hyde is fab but has she even done ANYTHING since she stole from Sally? :( it seems so pointless to bring a character with strong family links back then just not use them. Gina and Dev are a bit one note and I'd love her to branch out of the factory and establish herself away from Sally's (fabulous) shadow!

 

41 / Kirk Sutherland 6.00

Kirk has done basically nothing under Kate Oates, I'm astonished he's this high tbh as he's been exactly the same for years and there's no character development or anything. I can't see that changing anytime soon and the actor isn't great so it probably works for everyone :lol: Him and Beth are a good match.

Jack's sepsis storyline really saw Michael Le Vell come into his own!! it was the best acting I'd seen from Kevin in years defo. Other than that, he's a lowkey Corrie legend but he's not done much this year :lol:

 

39 / Zeedan Nazir 6.31

Zeedan hasn't appeared since May 23rd :') it's a shame he's not higher as I really felt for him in the Kana story, most people would've thrown Rana out and not given Kate the time of day but he was really accommodating.

 

38 / Patrick Phelan 6.50

What can I say :mellow: Pat got three 10's but a -1, marmeet king tbh. The whole storyline was gripping viewing but got tiresome by the end and Pat turned into a panto villain kind of :lol: You can't fault Connor MacIntyre's acting though and there was a lot of hype to the show.

 

37 / Craig Tinker 6.75

I lowkey despise Craig despite the producers wanting us to like him oops. I don't like how we're supposed to root for him bending the law (as a police officer!!) and I'm not sure the actor's all that. it's irrational more than anything ngl :lol:

Sue Cleaver has been incredible throughout this whole year :wub: the scene with her pushing Phelan off the cliff is up their with the best, but it would've been more 'iconic' if he'd died there and then :lol: I feel like she's slowly returning to her best with the scenes with Steve/Tracy etc.

I'm pretty sure he'd be at least 25 places lower if this rate was conducted now ;o Johnny was heartbreaking One thing I will say is it's good they haven't just forgotten his MS like David's epilepsy or Izzy's pain that made her take weed that miraculously disappeared when she was released from prison :lol: (
