Sorry Harry and for one anyone else that has been veto'd so far if you feel like we're being too strict. I understand interpretations to genres vary but for some of the choices so far it's difficult to actually place those songs on where they actually fit in the dubstep or trap spectrum. Just because something is uploaded on a genre specific channel on YT, it doesn't automatically make that song fit in the genre. It would be the same as entering a song by a dubstep artist because that's what they're known for but the song isn't actually dubstep at all. Dance music sometimes cannot fit in just one genre and so I cannot sit here and say that one song is a certain genre, we just believe it doesn't suit the theme of contest. We got a little stick for High Contrast last contest for the song not being wholly D&B and we are just trying to get things right. We know not everyone is going to agree with our decisions but we are just simply following what's been put in place and if we both feel that something doesn't suit then we will just say. I don't want to put people out for entering because I know how hard you all work to find your entries and I know it's disheartening for a song to be veto'd. All I ask is that you trust us as mods to adhere to the contest rules to make it as fair and enjoyable for everyone :)

I was actually a little surprised at that, it seemed to have elements of dubstep, but admittedly a bit loose and I don't claim to be an expert and I'm glad that we're being very clear about the theme this time.

 

(The other vetoes as I haven't posted for openness sake were NOMA - Brain Power and a song by Namie Amuro that I don't remember the title of as it went from the sheet quite quickly :kink: )

Just to be clear, we'd rather have songs that properly stick to the theme, and all the vetoes so far have been agreed upon by both Lewis and myself.

Personally I do think it's better to just be careful with these things as like Lewis said, there were comments in the last contest about High Contrast and other tracks too, like the D&B version of that well-known Hans Zimmer track being a bit questionable. These things happen quite a bit and it's natural cos hellooo, we are all human, but we might as well strive for contests that are as "pure" as possible (for lack of a better word), with as few loopholes as possible. It's better to get these things right from the word go and have a fair contest where people don't have a reason to be confused about the validity of any of the entries.

He was 'last seen' on Wednesday, so he might just be taking a short break but who knows.

it called it a dubstep drop on some blogs but it isn't very prominent haha - it mashes up dubstep / hardstyle as you said / psytrance / generic EDM lmao so thought i'd try it x

We can’t see who sent what, so whatever had been entered previously was absolutely fine :)

I'm afraid I'm skipping this one on the basis that I didn't really enjoy anything I heard from the genres whilst searching for a potential entry... I may take a listen to the selections once they're known though to see if anything there changes my mind.

OMGOMGOMG I've got so many things to enter with!

A big fan of commercial dubstep and real one for almost 10 years. As for trap, I can name some names I like from that genre, also some gems from them.

but hey, I can't wait to be vetoed ^_^
