Disney is enlisting Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as the company prepares to launch its upcoming streaming service. The entertainment giant is in early development on an ambitious plan for a number of limited series centered on popular characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These series will likely include shows centered on Loki and the Scarlet Witch, along with other beloved superheroes who have yet to appear in their own standalone movies.

Marvel and Disney had no comment.

There’s an important distinction from other Marvel small screen efforts, however. The actors who portrayed these heroes and villains in the Avengers films and their spin-offs, such as Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen, are expected to play them in the streaming shows. Moreover, though sources close to the production are staying mum on the cost of the programming, the budgets are expected to be hefty rivaling those of a major studio productions. Each series is expected to include six to eight episodes. Marvel Studios will produce the shows and Kevin Feige, the guru of all things MCU, is expected to take a hands-on role in their development.

Yes that's MORE MCU series following Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, The Punisher, Cloak and Dagger, Agent Carter, Runaways and the upcoming New Warriors - phew!! However, these two planned series would be the first to feature two major league characters to star in their own series. Only Agent Coulson and Agent Carter have crossed over to have starring roles with Howard Stark, Nick Fury, Maria Hill and Lady Sif being other characters to have guest/recurring roles.

They're definitely two interesting picks and have got me interested after originally groaning at yet more MCU TV series. Loki has of course been the best villain of the MCU and is one of the most interesting characters so a TV series will really help to explore that further. Scarlet Witch is another intriguing character too, would have been nice for her to get her own film but I think a TV series would actually help to do the character more justice as, again, she's one of the more complex characters.

Are these tv shows though? From that quote it reads to me like a miniseries of Marvel One Shots based on single characters rather than entire shows.
These are TV series, Tom Hiddleston is a question mark to reprise his role he seems to be after bigger roles now, if he gets short listed to replace Daniel Craig as Bond, mind you if the series is only 8 episodes long he might consider it,

Kevin Fiege has said these series will play a ‘big part’ in post-Endgame MCU (of which only Spiderman 2 and Black Widow has been formally announced in terms of movies, with GOTG3 presumably still coming too) which is interesting. I think that means a lot more crossovers especially as they feature some bigger players from the MCU than the other Marvel series.

Loki is the only once that has been officially announced but Scarlet Witch & Vision is very heavily rumoured.

They’re certainly going big on Disney+, the Star Wars series has recently finished filming but I’m not sure when it’s meant to launch?

Latest rumour is that they'll also be a Hawkeye series - potentially with Hawkeye training his daughter (future Young Avengers member Kate Bishop)

Not the the most exciting for me oops

Ok forget that last post as, at the launch event last night:

Loki

Wandavision (Scarlet Witch & Vision)

Falcon and Winter Solider

are coming to Disney+!

Exicted for the first two, but less enthused as to what a Falcon/Winter Soldier show would bring

Falcon & Winter Soldier just kinda (depending on its timeline of course) further further confirms that Cap dies in Endgame and that’ll be a TV show of them going “what do we do now without Cap?”

SO, officially OFFICIALLY announced we have:

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Fall 2020

WandaVision: Spring 2021

Loki: Spring 2021

What If...?: Summer 2021

Hawkeye: Fall 2021

The Falcon and the Winter Solider sees the return of Anthony Mackie & Sebastian Stan in the title roles whilst Zemo (Civil War) and Sharon Carter (Captain America) are also set to return!

WandaVision sees Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch) and Paul Bettany return in the title roles and Monica (Captain Marvel's best friend, Maria's daughter) returns. This is the first TV series with potentially the biggest impact on the MCU Scarlet Witch is set to return in Doctor Strange 2, out shortly after.

Loki sees Tom Hiddleston return and will explore the multiverse as it follows the Loki that stole the Tesseract straight after Avengers 1 in Endgame. Is anyone still with me? Essentially all his character development is back to SQUARE ONE.

Hawkeye sees the return of Jeremy Renner who teaches Kate Bishop to be the new Hawkeye.

What If...? is an animated anthology show exploring alternate realities from events in the MCU. Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Killmonger (Michael B Jordan), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson), Thanos (Josh Brolin), Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), Korg (Taika Waititi), Dum Dum Dugan (Neal McDonough), Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), Arnim Zola (Toby Jones), Korath (Djimon Hounsou) and Yondu (Michael Rooker) ......... all return to to voice episodes.

Also announced are She-Hulk, Moon Knight and Ms Marvel!

Interesting that they’re also exploring new superheros for TV series! The MCU is certainly getting a LOT bigger eek

These tv shows haven’t excited me much, but those 3 have me interested, especially Moon Knight omg
Monica (Captain Marvel's best friend, Maria's daughter) returns.

aka life partner/girlfriend

SO excited.

I hope with the new ones (She-Hulk, Moon Knight & Ms Marvel) we actually get some use out of them in the movies. Not having a quick shot of The Defenders in Endgame battle sequence (when it easily could have been done - nothing big just a quick "Oh shit, YESSSS" moment) broke my heart a lil.

Wow I’m kinda shook that Loki officially

came out

in the latest episode. That was cool to see.

It'll be cool if they actually follow through and prove it so that they're not just baiting.

Does anyone have any clue what is actually going on in this series as I am v confused

loved the series, loved the setting up of Kang/Kangs and the mad multiverse crossovers coming in Doctor Fate & Spiderman, and presumably Thor & Antman too. Now X-Men can crossover too along with old Spiderman cast franchises and also be rebooted of sorts without losing what's gone before. We not only have multiple Loki's (and a second series), we have multiple Spidermen, Kang The Conquerer & any number of other heroes and villains, plus Wanda & Doctor Fate dealing with the fall-out and her kids part of a potentially new Young Avengers movie series or TV series, while Julia Dreyfuss is busy snaffling disgruntled wanna-be heroes for a new dubious-morally team (see Captain America failed substitute, Black Widow sister potential substitute).

All building nicely!

It will be interesting to see what they do with the X-Men, I suspect they will go for a 'start from scratch' moment as there is so much potential there with the vast array of characters.. which I suspect might be a cause of the multi-verse or something to do with the Fantastic Four.

omg even MORE Marvel shows have been announced as part of Disney+ Day :drama:

Some of these have already been announced but this is the list of all upcoming shows:

• Hawkeye

• Ms Marvel

• Moon Knight

• She-Hulk

• What If…?: Season 2

• Loki: Season 2

• Ironheart

• Secret Invasion

• Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

• I Am Groot (Animated…. i think?)

• Agatha: House of Harkness

• Echo

• Armor Wars

• Spiderman: Freshman Year (Animated)

• Marvel Zombies (Animated)

• X-Men ‘97 (Animated)

• Untitled Wakanda series

:deadbanana:

The Zombies is the most random for me, it made for one of the better What If…? episodes but just how can you make a full series of it…

There are still lots I’m hyped for though, Ms Marvel, Agatha (!!) and Secret Invasion in particular. The Guardians special should be a lot of fun as well! I can definitely leave Armor Wars though and interesting that it doesn’t seem to have been part of Disney+ Day.
