Rebounding to the top spot for the second time, American actor Froy Gutierrez climbs eight places back up to #1 for a fourth non-consecutive week with sideswipe, his debut single. sideswipe initially spent two weeks at the top upon release at the very end of July, before returning for a week when the Teen Wolf actor was confirmed as a special guest at WereWolfCon, which occurred in Brussels on 6th and 7th October - an event I booked to attend earlier this year! You can read my full review of WereWolfCon here, and see my photos with Froy, who was incredibly lovely. He also performed a concert on the night of the 5th, including sideswipe and a host of brand new songs.

As a result, sideswipe returns to #1 for a third stint this week. It becomes only the fourth song in my chart's history to have at least three runs at #1, and the first in almost four years, since Tom Odell's Real Love. Girls Aloud's Something New was the first to do so, in 2012, while in the middle, Cheryl's solo track Crazy Stupid Love had four separate one-week stints at #1.

In most weeks, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan's collaboration 1999 would've been a surefire #1. However, running into WereWolfCon week means they lose out to Froy. However, a #2 debut is extremely respectable for both artists. Charli achieves her eleventh top 10 hit, a tally which includes four previous #1s, two of which came this year (Moonlight and Girls, the former of which dropped out this week and in doing so, secured its place as her second-longest runner after Fancy). 1999 is her highest as a lead artist since 2015 #1 Doing It. Troye achieves his fifteenth top 10, which includes four #1s also. 1999 becomes his fourth #2 hit too!

Rocketing into the top 10 now it's an official single, Tom Odell's Half As Good As You becomes his second top 10 hit out of two singles so far from his forthcoming Jubilee Road album. Tom is no stranger to the top 10 - he now has twelve top 10s, including every single he's released since I discovered him (with Another Love; Can't Pretend and Hold Me both charted as album tracks later), as well as promotional track Wrong Crowd, the title track from his second album. Half As Good As You features Alice Merton, who has nabbed her second top 40 hit and first top 10, achieving a higher position than #18 hit No Roots from earlier this year.

Achieving her highest position in four years, Nina Nesbitt makes her chart comeback this week. Amazing debut for '1999'! Hope it can climb to #1 for you in future weeks. It might already be the best thing that Charli has released for me :o so well-produced, catchy, fun and nostalgic even if I was only born in 1997 :lol: seeing Sims in the video for instance took me right back to childhood.

'Shallow' is also a lovely new entry <3 can't wait to go and see the film next weekend hopefully! Yass 'Lost In Japan' too, the Zedd remix has given it a new lease of life for me.
