Another wishy-washy track on first listen, this is the least excited I've been for a 1975 album since before I knew they existed :(

Not overly keen on this sounds a bit like a Busted album track. Was half expecting Charlie Simpson to come in on the chorus.

Pretty poor, nothing's really excited me this era. Hope they are holding back an absolute banger for the prealbum single in the spring. I do however rather when they make a good guitar rock/pop song.

This song is kind of nice and all, sounds like it'd make a decent enough filler album track, but a single? Not sure ~~ I'll take it over 'People' I guess. (I presume they'll have at least one more single before the album if it's still not out until April - I really want to be more impressed by something from them, I loved the first 2 singles from their last album and thought they were both among their best songs to date but the only song from this album so far that I particularly liked was 'Frail State Of Mind').

New songs releasing in February, March, and just before the album releases.

So they're dropping 7 whole songs before the album? Surely that won't be leaving much to the imagination unless it's a really long album :lol: well at least that's a good number of opportunities for them to have a single I actually love x

 

(I guess that's not unique to them though, Bombay Bicycle Club also released nearly half of their album as singles and Tame Impala might be doing the same)

They'll be performing a couple of unreleased songs live next month which I'm going to, can't wait for that.

Still plenty of tracks to come though. Can always just skip the poorer ones. Or maybe they'll sound better in context. That does happen.

Yeah putting it like that this era's singles are a very clear step down from all their previous ones for me... (the singles run from their 2nd album wasn't great either but 'Somebody Else' is one of their best songs which makes up for it a bit)

 

1. Chocolate / The City / Sex - 3 great songs

2. Give Yourself A Try / Love If It We Made It / TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME - 2 great songs (the first two), 1 decent song

3. Love Me / UGH! / Somebody Else - 1 great song (SE), 2 ok songs

...

4. People / Frail State Of Mind / Me & You Together Song - 1 good song (FSOM), 1 ok song (M&YTS), 1 absolutely awful song

I've always found the first album to be my least favourite in general other than Chocolate, Girls, Robbers and Sex

 

I'm kinda happy it's the one they do the least of live now (usually just Chocolate, Sex and Robbers)
