But Britney has done something Kylie hasn't managed for nearly a decade, she's taken her sound and evolved it to not only be different but modern and managed to not sound trend chasing. She didn't play it safe and as a result is getting amazing reviews for it.

You mean BS has taken a different approach to audio-edit her "can't sing" voice?

I don't like the new Britney album. Its the first one I haven't bought. Her voice sounds awful and is better suited to generic pop ie. Max Martin. Kylie has a much better voice than Britney anyway and what I liked about Kylie Christmas was some of the songs showed a real mature sound.

Can we cut this bullshit "Britney can't sing" tearing down one singer to make another one look better thing out right now?

Glory shits over Kiss Me Once and most of Aphrodite. Kylie ha sbeen doing safe watered down pop for too long and needs to change it up, Britney DID change it up

and it payed off.

"KMO did better than Britney's new one" doesn't change the fact that it is still one of Kylie's worst performing albums, dropped like a stone and had no hits on it.

Also, Kylie gets support in the UK, a lot from radio 2, one of the biggest stations for album sales and does promo here too. Britney hasn't been touched by mainstream radio for years and never comes here either.

Without commercial support or promotion, Britney's sales are pretty much 99% from fans alone, whereas Kylie, whilst still having lots of fans, gets some casual support too.

Kylie does have some casual support or the Christmas album would not have sold as well as it did and likewise Into the Blue would not have got as high as number 12, while it wasnt a huge hit it was a hit nonetheless. Into the Blue also managed a top 10 position (number 9) here in Ireland which was much higher peak than quiet a few of her singles here. Into the Blue was a far bigger hit than Britneys recent one in the UK.

Im not slagging Britney to make Kylie look better, each to their own, i did like some of Britneys earlier work but i have said this many many times, Britneys constant miming on shows, concerts etc put me right off her, going to a live concert for someone to mime is pathetic for me and i just lost all interest in her. I also havnt enjoyed anything from her in years.

While Kiss me once was a disappointing album i liked into the blue as a song (not up there with her best singles) i also loved les kiss and and liked the title track.

With all things considered Kylie is still managing to sell much better than many other acts from her own era and some who followed after. Kylie is just as relevant as Madoona, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, U2, Mariah Carey etc.

I am fully aware the named artists have bigger American careers but that was never a country that Kylie really did well in. From the artists i listed, Kylie's Kiss Me Once album sold more than the last albums from the listed singers and Kylie's Christmas Album in particular well out sold them.

Each album is individual tastes by any artist, in my own opinion Britney's new material is awful but i am aware there are many who love it. Kiss me Once was not Kylie's best album by a long stretch but it was not awful either.

So...not relevant at all.

Relevant can be debated, but Kylie has remained relevant to her fans if nothing else, otherwise we would not be even discussing her.
That goes without saying though, everyone is relevant to their fans
With Kylie still keeping a large fanbase. I still firmly believe the Christmas album was purchased by casual customers rather than just Kylie fans.
Kylie did HUGE promo for the Christmas album. She was on every big promo slot. I actually think given she was on Strictly, Graham Norton, Royale Variety, John Bishop, TOTP, heavy R2 support, the sales were slightly under what they should have been. I think it will sell this year though. I really hope she pops up for a performance or 2.
It is important she promotes again this year to attract casual buyers and i would believe its something she will do. It would be wonderful if she could sell in the same quantities as she did last year.
I think the quality of the re-release will determine how well it might do, if we get a proper re-release with extra songs and hopefully the dvd from last Christmas show it may do very well, im looking forward to see what additional material will be added.

For some reason Kylie Christmas has re-entered the Irish chart at #11 this week! Can't figure out why!
