Chart Commentary

 

 

Securing a fourth week at the top, Matteo Markus Bok ties the record for most consecutive weeks at #1 this year. It matches the four-week stint of Why Don't We's Hooked, although both trail the five non-consecutive weeks of froy's sideswipe. Additionally, In the Middle is part of the longest top 2 lockout in five years. For a fourth week, the top 2 singles remain unchanged, with Dua Lipa and BLACKPINK's collaboration Kiss and Make Up sitting pretty at #2 once again. This is the longest time two songs have dominated the top 2 since Lily Allen had Hard Out Here at #1 and Somewhere Only We Know at #2, also for four weeks (and Hard Out Here went on to nab a fifth week at the top).

 

Elsewhere this week, Halsey reaches a new peak as Without Me becomes her first top 5 hit.

 

 

Almost doubling his total amount of chart hits this week, Alec Benjamin see a huge impact in the first full week since his Narrated for You mixtape dropped. Prior to this week, five songs had charted from it, including the #1 hit Let Me Down Slowly, and top 10 hits in If We Have Each Other, Outrunning Karma and 1994. A further six songs enter this week, joined by the latter two top 10 hits which were already charting, and Let Me Down Slowly which re-enters at #12.

 

Steve leads the way at #3, with Annabelle's Homework new at #6 and Water Fountain in at #7, taking his top 10 tally to eight. This also ties the record for most top 10 hits in one week by the same artist - matching Girls Aloud in 2012 (with all four new songs from their Ten greatest hits) and CNCO earlier this year (with four songs from their self-titled sophomore album).

 

Finally, the second single Boy in the Bubble makes its chart debut, after I initially wrote it off. It's new at #33 this week, meaning all six singles from the project have finally charted. Furthermore, only one song from the entire mixtape hasn't made my top 40 at all - Gotta Be a Reason would have been just outside this week!

Over a year after his last chart appearance, Martin Jensen makes a return this week with Somebody I'm Not. It's his second top 10 hit, following his #1 Vamps collaboration Middle of the Night from last year. It outcharts his global breakout hit Solo Dance, which charted at #19. It's the first hit for vocalist Bjørnskov.
