They could put an overall cap per song per person

So it doesnt count forever

I must be alone in loving the Christmas invasion! Most of the Christmas staples are far better than the current chart dirge so 4 weeks a year doesn't bother me. Plus it's great seeing certain songs reach new peaks after so many years. So much has changed with the music scene/charts, it's good to have a running constant with these festive bangers. :kink:

What bothers me is that it depends too much on playlist position

Its even more passive than usual

Santa tell me is charting higher this year but its not cos Ari is more popular, its cos the song is higher than ever in all playlists

I kind of like that we have Christmas songs each year, it's a nice tradition now.

Me if Zara makes top 10 despite xmas songs.

Me if Mariah blocks Zara and makes her peak at #11

Or could it be that it's a bit of both? Ariana is the most streamed female in the world now.

Agree yes its not black or white

If Mariah keeps doing 600k streams a day

Even on Acr, thats more than L mix, Gaga or Thursday are doing on normal ratio

Some right little grinches about :o I'd hate the charts without Christmas tracks, The charts should be christmassy during December. I mean it only lasts like 3 or 4 weeks and only about 1 week or 2 weeks where there is lots of Christmas songs. Hardly anything to be moaning over really is it.
I don't know why Spotify can't auto shuffle the playlist order on a daily basis. It would be interesting to see how it affects the chart.

I wouldn't want the OCC to make Christmas songs chart ineligible either, but they may do it anyway seeing as they've already put most of the songs on eternal ACR to try and reduce their chart impact.

The charts would be seriously boring with very little movement in December if you took out the Christmas songs which make up a large chunk of what people are streaming.

The chart following Christmas Day doesn't even get broadcast anymore either so that chart being full of Christmas songs really isn't an issue.

It might make December more exciting if artist knew they wouldn't get lost in the Xmas songs and might actually release more in December then.

Whether the Christmas songs chart officially or not doesn't make any difference in that respect, new songs are still going to get lost amongst all the Christmas songs, particularly on Spotify where it's harder than ever to make the top 50 (and get additional exposure) with just about everyone streaming Christmas playlists.
I echo the people who love the influx of Xmas songs - brightens up the charts and makes younger people more aware of classic artists!
They should either create a Xmas chart for Xmas songs or increase the ratio to 1:600 for Xmas songs

Exactly, right now we are looking at songs entering the top 100 from practically every decade since the 50s/60s!

I think that is quite special and makes the chart more exciting for all generations. It is only a few weeks a year.

Why? Because you personally don't like Christmas songs in the chart? Not sure it's validation enough

It might be just my OCD talking, but I think the problem is that the Christmas carol influx would drive some songs to premature ACR that have potential to peak higher or last longer on the chart, and there would be some inaccuracies in that these songs feel bigger on the chart than they really were. That's probably the only reason why I would advocate for a larger ratio for the holiday songs (not the ratio that Hadji suggested but still a bit larger than they normally would be on ACR).
