So if Wham got to no1 at radio and no2 at video and only just behind Mariah on sales - is that overall the biggest Xmas song of 2018 if you look at it in a billboard chart kinda way?? :P

The airplay still doesn't reflect its popularity though, it climbed significantly during 21-25th Dec on every platform but didn't climb a single position on the airplay chart. I doubt people are gonna turn off the radio because One More Sleep is playing on the 23rd.

I heard it once in the car and the radio DJ joked that actually it was 2 more sleeps as it was the 23rd. I'm pretty certain it did very well streaming wise the 24th.

Actually it peaked position-wise on the 17th and stream-wise on the 25th. I think the fact its about Xmas eve hinders its Christmas day surge (it doesn’t see the % increase in streams that other Xmas songs do), but it certainly didn’t affect its overall performance, streams or itunes downloads throughout December.

I cant say I've studied the lyrics. I found my bf having GEM 106 on in the car this last week painful. The same 20 xmas songs on repeat and we did so much traveling 😣😣😣

 

I heard the Queen song a few times and I swear I'd not heard it before, I'm not sure if it was because of the Queen boom this year or because they are desperate to expand the 15 songs on repeat to 20. There was a Whitney song about a drummer boy that I'd never heard before but heard a couple of times too.

Radio 1 have always latched onto Underneath the Tree and are rather reluctant to play One More Sleep. Capital played it a bit this year but seemed more eager to play her cover of Winter Wonderland. Heart and Radio 2 played it a lot though.

Hopefully with its incredible success this year Radio 1 can’t get away with ignoring it as much next year, but they probably will.

Radio 1 didn't playlist either One More Sleep or Underneath the Tree when released in 2013 but they did get random plays nearly every day on Scott Mills show from what I can remember!

Yeh I always thought Heart played it a lot in the last few years according to Enviro on here! Should be a staple on radio 2 annually now!
