I was referring to Gaga snatching the #1 from Ariana because of her iTunes sales.

Any idea why Flux reached #16 on US iTunes on release day whereas Close To Me could only manage #26-ish?

My guess is that there just wasn't much hype around her comeback, at least not the first week. Now that Close To Me's getting huge airplay, she's back in the public's general recognition which led to her follow-up doing better on release day!

Close To Me - released off the back of an 18 month solo hiatus, her 2016 singles and First Time flopped, the GP pretty much forgot she existed

But also because it had a huge spike in streaming (top 10 on that chart for the first time after previously peaking at #28) and a moderately big increase in airplay. Is there any way to see how close the top 2 on the Hot 100 are? I'd still guess that the download boost alone wasn't what put it over the line.

 

I'm very glad to have been wrong anyway, well deserved #1 (eventually) :heart:

But it was the huge iTunes numbers what made the difference, without those, she wouldn't have made it, she did 115K
