Gosh, she really has timed everything so awfully here in terms of even attaining some kind of official chart entry.

I know! :( I've accepted Madonna isn't likely to have chart success in the singles again but it would be nice to see her adding another tally to her string of chart entries.

I believe it's now been 24 hours and total views stand at 4,368,917 (placing it #13 on the YouTube chart).

Just broke the Top 10, currently #9. As for the audio version, it's first week breakdown is as follows:

2019/04/17 1,486,393

2019/04/18 2,086,733

2019/04/19 1,318,630

2019/04/20 896,272

2019/04/21 503,602

2019/04/22 358,963

2019/04/23 315,657

Being added to radio 2 a list and it’s song of the week there should help it maintain a top 50 download position ?

We also have the billboard performance.

It’s only featured on two Apple Music playlists. Taylor is now ‘number one’ on most of them , and she has released the video at the same time , and on a Friday.

I assume it’s also not doing well on Spotify ?

Will they count for next week's chart then?

Unfortunately not. :( For the Friday chart, streams for Thursday are worked out from trends during the week and the actual data is just scrapped completely.

Yeah, Radio 2 airplay should keep it comfortably Top 40. Not sure what effect Billboard Music Awards usually has on the UK but presumably it'll help out a bit.

Not been doing good on UK Spotify at all. Not appeared on the Top 200 even when it appeared at #3 on New Music Friday. It's on a few playlists such as 'All New All Now' (places eighth; 421k followers), 'Pop Rising' (1.6m followers but really low down), 'The Pop List' (635k and really low down) and 'This is How We Do' (587k; low again) but it needs to be on one of the big playlists like 'Today's Top Hits' or 'Hot Hits UK' to compete with other chart songs.

#4 on YouTube trending, would be #3 but Taylor Swift is ahead.

#24 on UK iTunes

7.6 million views

I thought this was good , Taylor is on 23 million .

New entry for Madge at #87 in the uk chart

I'm happy with that given I wasn't convinced it would hold on from its midweek position. Would love it to get higher but at least it adds to her chart tally.

Music Week:

Falling short of the Top 75 on its first full week of availability is Medellin (feat. Maluma), the introductory single from Madonna’s forthcoming 14th studio album, Madame X. It opens at No.87 (5,893 sales).

Surely it wont add to her tally until she goes Top 75. Positions 76-100 are not counted as a hit single

But i do hope that it does go Top 75 at some point most likely the Eurovision performance in a few weeks time.

Depends I guess, the OCC publish a Top 100 that's readily available so I don't see why it couldn't count.

Rumours are that Eurovision will see her perform something else. There's another music video that's been shot that features several drag queens, I'm guessing whatever song that is will be what's performed.

I think the next single might chart better or whatever she does at Eurovision.

UK wise a song like this was never going to be a chart hit despite it being her most interesting lead single in a long while.

Madonna still making the top 100 in the streaming era is a success in itself though especially as that week didn’t include the buys from her biggest fans who’d have likely bought it on the release day (I know I did although I was going to wait I just got it straight away).

Despite not appearing on the UK Spotify chart, it must have done well enough on streams to get her into the chart as #32 on sales wouldn't be enough alone. I agree that, as far as the UK is concerned, this isn't the sort of song that's appealing to streaming audiences as it doesn't throw you instantly into it and it's too long. As you say, it's her most interesting lead in a long time so for that I am grateful and would take over chart success.
