I like the studio version of this but I find the live MGP version quite.. cringey? It doesn't feel very polished and while Tom and Alexandra are both great vocalists Fred (the Sami yodeler) wasn't the strongest. I really hope they do something a lot more interesting in Tel Aviv or I fear this might even be a shock DNQ.

I don't think it will be a shock dnq, I feel these types of songs struggles to qualify and usually end up in the bottom half in the finals.

MGP turns 60 next year and will celebrate with 5 semi finals!!!

 

This sounded promising until I read that only one song will advance to the final from each semi, with the final featuring five more songs chosen by a jury.

 

And that each semi is supposedly going to represent a different region of Norway (north, south, west, east and central)....but all shows will be broadcast from Oslo?! :unsure:

 

I’m all for more shows, but when the eventual winner isn’t forced to have come through a semi..(if I understood the wording right. I think the five jury picks are entirely different songs?)

I'm slightly obsessed with this song. The chorus melody and harmonies are glorious. With epic staging, this could be a moment.

I'm not loving the video. It's so cringey when they appear in their fancy dress shop Narnia outfits.

 

They performed this really well at the Eurovision party. The vocals were excellent and it's just a really good pop song. It may do absolutely nothing at all in the final (if it even qualifies) but I really love it.

 

I love this before I've even seen the staging, would be a real shame if it did a Verona and lost out in the semis as with the right performance it could be unexpectedly huge. Quite high in the odds but then so was Verona at this stage.

 

The sami joik reminds me of 1980's infamous 'Sámiid ædnan' and I'm thinking the moment in the middle where the song stops and the joik begins will directly reference it.

It's hard to know...my instincts is that the precedent for this is either Verona (gets sabotaged by the juries in the semis) or Higher Ground (does so well on the televote that even a low jury score can't stop it qualifying) and we won't know that until the results of semi 2 are announced.

This is by far the best entry in 2019 overall I absolutely love it.

Still number 3 uk i tunes and number 7 and 26 here in Ireland, really hope it holds up for another while and make the charts in both countries.
