Posted November 4, 200618 yr This classic 80's tune has been given a well-earned makeover from Edison. Not too far removed from the original with a few little twists and turns to make it insanely catchy. Dont think you'd like it though, if you dont like the original. I love it and it should be another biggie and rightly so. Out 4th December on Positiva. Finally Positiva sign something worthy!!!! lol :yahoo:
November 4, 200618 yr oh no... not another lazy re-make of a retro classic.. wtf is up with dance artists these days? are they totally devoid of any ORIGINAL TALENT?...

November 4, 200618 yr oh no... not another lazy re-make of a retro classic.. wtf is up with dance artists these days? are they totally devoid of any ORIGINAL TALENT?... Well, surely it's a good thing if it retains the original vocal?
November 4, 200618 yr omg..... :puke2: hi kate :) Hi Mushy! I'M GOING TO REMIX IT!!! HAHAHA and I'm going to remix a tune by HIM and make it sound like 2 Unlimited!
November 5, 200618 yr oh no... not another lazy re-make of a retro classic.. wtf is up with dance artists these days? are they totally devoid of any ORIGINAL TALENT?... I agree with that -_- Fair enough that some of them have been quite good but why is every other dance song just an old song with bits added to it? A lot of them are just pointless -_- I mean there are plenty of great dance songs that are original songs (the ones with lyrics I mean)
November 5, 200618 yr Well, surely it's a good thing if it retains the original vocal? I think you kinda missed the point of mushy's criticism.. Why do it at all...??? The original version is perfectly good for dancing to in its own right... A "Dance" version is surplus to requirements... What the fukk next, some dickhead remixing "Anarchy In The UK" or "London Calling"....? <_<

November 5, 200618 yr Oh JJ why are you bigging this up?? I'm so dissapointed! I rather like Blondie and this coer version is just a sheer blatant cash-in and demonstrated s worrying lack of ideas! It's SHOCKING!!! Positiva have well and truly lost it!!! Edited November 5, 200618 yr by ScottyEm

November 5, 200618 yr Well, surely it's a good thing if it retains the original vocal? tracks are born out of current fashions, whatever the era, they are pertainent to that time and belong there. why do it? why not just write new vocals? im totally against tracks from MY past being updated by some lazy pillock just to make money.
November 6, 200618 yr Other covers or remixes I've thought were c**p because they lacked originality and such. But concerning Heart of Glass, as Grim said, there really is NO REASON. It couldn't be catchier, it couldn't be dancier, it couldn't be improved upon in any way from its original form. What the HELL are they thinking??

I think things like this are symptomatic of everything that is wrong about the Dance scene today.. If you look to my own Top 30 (at the risk of blowing my own trumpet.... ) and the fact that the vast majority of tracks are from the early or mid-1990s, and the likes of The Prodigy, Underworld, Aphex Twin, Chemical Brothers, Faithless, KLF, Orbital, The Orb, Delerium, etc were hardly underground or obscure, ALL of them scored top 10s at some stage. My question is - where the hell is anything in 2006 that is of a similar quality in the mainstream Dance/Techno movement...? It's pretty much nowhere to be seen, the only place you see the sort of pioneering spirit and quest for originality that emobodied these 90s acts is in the Underground scene - your Infected Mushrooms, your Dark Sohos, your CombiChrists..... None of which are exactly gonna be played on Kiss Fm....

I dont know why i just love it. I know the original is a classic and shouldnt be touched but they've put a whole new intersting slant on it by removing some of the vocals and messing around with it. Yeh youre right about Positiva though - they have signed some crud in the past months!!!! I only hope Soul Seekerz - Party For The Weekend can do better things.
November 6, 200618 yr In reply to GF... although you may disagree - check the top 2 (and I never EVER thought I would be saying this!!...). BOTH tracks are both firm dance anthems and rely on nothing that has been done before - no sampling - NOTHING! I know this may well be a one-off, and the $h!te certainly out-ways the great these days, but theres still enough great stuff out there to care about.

Pop the vids up on the thread and I'll give em a listen.. I dont really really pay attention to anything in the mainstream Top 40 these days tbh....
