February 14, 20196 yr Author Anybody else seen this? I love this sort of American comedy (think 'Bad Moms'/'Daddy's Home' etc..) anyway, but there's something extra and special about this one. It's hilarious, emotional and heartwarming without feeling forced. I expected a lot worse/more stupid, but it exceeded my expectations and then some! Worth a watch!
February 16, 20196 yr Who could dislike a movie starring Mark Wahlberg, Rose Byrne, Margo Martindale AND Octavia Spencer?! It was better than I expected too, I went to see it more on the strength of the lead cast and generally liking this type of movie rather than what was shown in the trailer itself. I didn’t think it was quite as good as those movies you mentioned Jonjo, but they’re all about a solid 8/10 for me. It was sweet and heartwarming but I didn’t think the laughs were quite as big.
February 19, 20196 yr Can’t wait to see this soon. Only just missing out on the UK #1 spot by less than £3,000.
March 15, 20196 yr This is a special special film. Much funnier than I thought but so real and powerful in its depiction of foster families (I went with someone who has experienced a lot of this growing up). Really brilliant film and I left feeling.... totally broody and strongly considering this sort of action in the future.
March 16, 20196 yr Me and my hubby are approved foster carers and we adopted our son when he was a baby, 5 years ago. From the point of view of the emotional impact, the movie was really great. It was so funny, and just well written. I liked the exaggerated support group (though it's actually not far from reality).
March 16, 20196 yr Author I believe the director is also a parent who adopted. Which I guess is the reason why this came off as so genuine, sincere and heartfelt
