33. Mel & Kim - Respectable 166pts

Writers - Mike Stock,Matt Aitken,Pete Waterman

Top points - Scene 25,Nimbus 24,AH Gold 23

The second Stock Aitken Waterman produced single to reach no.1 and there would be many more to follow over the next few years. Mel sadly died just three years later. Kim was recently seen driving around the country with Midge Ure for a three part series on 80s music for BBC4.

Top points - coi 24,vibe 20,Nimbus 20

This spent seven weeks at no.1 in 1995. It actually entered the chart in October 1994. If you've been keeping an eye on the writing credits, you might have noticed that this is written by the same duo who wrote 'The Land Of Make Believe' for Bucks Fizz.

31. Mr Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) 173pts

Writer - Dennis Princewell Stehr

Top points - danG 25,Jason 24,coi 23

From 2014,a remix of the Mr Probz song from the year before. The follow-up single 'Nothing Really Matters' only got to number 72 and subsequent releases have failed to chart.

The last 5 voters put Mr Probz out of the top 25. I'm pretty sure it was top 25 before Michaelking21 vote. :(

I really hated Waves at the time. Now, I do like it as a nostalgic sort of track but there are so many better alternatives in the genre. Also, Nothing Really Matters is an INCREDIBLE ballad, gutted that didn't get even a modicum of Waves' success.
Yes,Waves was qualifying quite comfortably until the last few votes came in on Sunday.

The 'wrong' votes always come in the last day. :P Just close the next round on Saturday please haha.

30. The Saturdays featuring Sean Paul - What About Us 177pts

Writers - Camille Purcell,Ollie Jacobs,Philip Jacobs

Top points - Wall 25,M477h3w 25,miichaelking21 25

A hat-trick of maximum scores is still not enough for this to qualify. It was the Saturdays' 14th single and only number 1.

It is funny to remember how popular The Saturdays were here 10 years ago and now they can't be top 25 in this number ones popularity thing. Oh dear!
'Waves' and 'What About Us' both only just missed out on my votes iirc, this was a much stronger set than the previous round.

How did think twice not make it !?

Classic

Yes,Waves was qualifying quite comfortably until the last few votes came in on Sunday.

Well Thank God for them.

Boo at Respectable failing to make the cut.

A single which took almost four months from its release to reach no.1. It was written after the producers of the X Factor asked Chris Martin to write the winner's song but Coldplay ended up keeping it for themselves.

This finishes 9 points behind the 25th placed song,Don't Stop Movin' by S Club 7. La Roux were a duo when this got to no.1 in 2009. Elly Jackson is now on her own but has kept the name. She is the daughter of Trudie Goodwin who played the role of June Ackland in The Bill for a long time.
