After listening to this more, this is great from her. It's hard to believe that she hasn't had a UK Top10 hit since 'On My Mind' back in 2015.

well she went on a hiatus after Delerium

and just came back last year with Close to Me, which did not go top 10 but did very well everywhere

Sixteen is just her 2nd proper single since coming back, nothing else has been properly pushed

now finally top10 on HH, should have an effect
Wonder when this is being sent to radio in the US?

This still does absolutely nothing for me. A weak copy of Anne-Marie's song, which itself wasn't particularly strong, and coming after it seems just like a copycat.

For me Ellie showed so much potential early on in her career to be a cool indie-edge artist with pop crossover ability with her folktronica sound, wispy voice and unexpected directions like Skrillex collab and The Weeknd cover. Instead every new thing she releases pushes her more into a pure pop girl bracket and never convincingly occupying that space. Even something like Flux is dull compared to the likes of Figure 8, Lights, Guns and Horses or Hanging On.

In all honesty with what's come out so far I'm actually worried about not liking the album at all.

what Anne Marie song? 2002? thats a very unfair comparison

as we established a few pages back, Ellie herself has done similar songs in the pat (ie Army), which predate 2002, so if something, 2002 is the copycat, although I'd say songs remembering the young days are nothing special and everybody does it.

too bad if you don't like it, but it's a decent song

Ellie talking back stage with BBC Radio 1

My next single is probably quite unexpected, I think it’s just not what people would expect but I’ve always done that, I like to do different things and experiment and I like to push boundaries a bit.

Hmm
