We're 8 seasons in and the 9th has just been announced! Of course, whilst the actors largely stay on, each season is an entirely new setting with (mostly) new characters. But which is your FAVE? Rank them from your favourite to least favourite! there's an optional rate toooo, which may get results depending on response but, this is all for fun rather than a proper event

A lot of people hate on Roanoke but I really think it's one if the best seasons. Good premise, great twist and quite a handful of jumpscares which don't happen that often in AHS at all. If only it was a little darker and relied less on the ridiculousness of it all and it would be a solid 10.

I loved Roanoke because it was so much tighter and focused, particularly coming after the mess that was Hotel, and it feels so different compared to the other AHS seasons. A lot more engaging as well with the premise and that twist. And, yeh, it was actually quite scary. It took me a year to get through Hotel but I went through Roanoke in like a week or two, and pulled me back into loving AHS.

01. Asylum (This was still the best for me, had all the recurring actors at their very best and a suitably grisly plot)

02. Roanoke (Basically everything Klaus said, it was so refreshing to have something focused, tense, stripped back and unique in concept in comparison to previous seasons. It wasn't perfect, the ending wasn't the best, but it literally single-handedly convinced me not to give up on the show)

03. Coven (Survived on a good cast)

04. Murder House (A first series is rarely perfect and this isn't an exception, still had it's moments)

And that's all I've finished oops :x I did see at least a few episodes of the other seasons (I mean part of the reason is they always fall at the busiest time of the year for me, but they just don't grab me much)

Freak Show (Liked the start and the cast, got way too slow and unfocused halfway through and lost patience with it in the end)

Cult (The stereotypes just put me off a bit :( )

Hotel (Style over Substance defined, srsly what actually happened in this?)

Apocalypse (Admittedly I forgot about this one so didn't see a single episode, but the concept wasn't massively intriguing)

I think this series always works well conceptually but not always in execution, it does have excellent moments that convince me to stick with it as well as the anthology aspect keeping things going, but Murphy's style just doesn't always click with me.

Aslyum is definitely the best, absolutely flawless. Roanoke is so underrated, I agree it is actually scary in places and much more focused than any series since and most before it, I get that it's a bit different and not what everyone wants from AHS bu I loved it. Freakshow on the other hand is one of the worst series of anything I've ever seen.

Agreed about Hotel too, it was such a shame because it started so strong and Gaga was fab in it, but it was just such a mess of so many different things yet nothing actually happened, idk how they managed that  The recent two were ok but I did struggle to bother getting through them, I still never finished Apocalypse oops

Yes but no. Asylum is my definitive #1 but after that it varies so much depending on how you're looking at it.

Murder House is fantastic on paper but lacks many interesting characters. Plenty of people/ghosts come and go but only stay just long enough to serve the story and you kinda don't get used to any one character other than Violet, Tate, the masturbator, and Constance. Connie Britton is a fantastic actress but Vivien was such a boring woman. The story all comes full circle in the end and almost all loose ends are tied up which is... rare in AHS

Coven didn't really click with me on the first watch through tbh. If I'd ranked these a year or two ago this would be much lower down just because I didn't care enough about this season on my first go round. The characters introduced here (and expanding upon in Apocalypse tbf) are some of my favourites in the whole series: Cordelia, Madison, Misty, Fiona, plus Spalding and Myrtle are all great. I didn't get bored halfway through every episode of Coven like I did Murder House though wow did it go off rails towards the end. It's a decent ending but compared to how the season began it went wildly offtrack. Basically the whole Witch Lore was rewritten about halfway through just to give Ryan something more to work with bc a witch sorority in New Orleans has less prospects than you'd imagine

Roanoke was great and I won't hear otherwise x

Freakshow was genuinely good in all aspects. I can't rewatch it though, idk why but it's the kind of story that once you've seen it - you've seen it. Also the ending with Elsa was so crap and necessary, same for the merciless slaughter of all the freaks. Pepper and Sister Mary Eunice's backstory was well done

Apocalypse could have been the best season yet. There was so much potential playing with the Antichrist, the garden of eden, Mallory the angel, basically loads of religious themes but it just flopped. Mallory was just a regular witch with slightly stronger powers than the others around here and killed the antichrist by hopping in a time machine and hit-and-running satans offspring. The ENTIRE plot of this season was just erased from history with the only lasting consequences of any of it being which Coven witches got to be resurrected or not. A fan service season if ever there was one. Still high on my ranking though because I enjoyed it

Freak Show is the only one I haven't enjoyed at all...couldn't even finish it!

08 Hotel

07 Cult

07 Apocalypse

06 Freak Show

04 Roanoke

Actually really cannot see how people genuinely enjoy Roanoke ngl, it was completely all over the place and it was the only season that actually left me completely dissapoined after finishing it. It was pretty creepy at times though I will give it that. If anything I’d say Freak Show is the most underrated, it’s gonna some of the most memorable characters imo, just kinda completely falls apart at the end

Hotel is the one all over the place! It has about 20 different storylines

I still don't know what the point was with the vampire kids and Chloe Sevigny tbh

10 Asylum

09 Roanoke

08 Murder House

08 Coven

7.5 Apocalypse

07 Hotel

05 Cult

04 Freakshow

Asylum is the only correct answer for the best season. It's amazing and even better on the 2nd (or 3rd) watch. Same goes for Roanoke, Murder House and Coven actually. They really do benefit from multiple viewings.

I haven't managed to watch any of the others again. I will definitely watch Apocalypse and Hotel for a 2nd time, but Cult and Freakshow are a no-go for me. They were really poor.

I don't know what it was about Roanoke that some people don't like. It's so good - it's genuinely scary in parts, extremely gruesome, has great characters and some nice little twists. I loved it.

10 Asylum

09 Roanoke

08 Coven

08 Murder House

06 Apocalypse

06 Freakshow
