73. Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now

Average score - 7.064

Writer - Ritchie Cordell

Top scores : 10 - ready for it,M4NG0,JackJones

Low scores : 1.5 - jimwatts, 3 - Popchartfreak, 4 - Spiceboy

As you can see, only three people gave this a score of 10,but only three gave it less than 4.5 so it earns its 73rd place to a consistent run of good scores. The song was a top 5 hit for Tommy James and the Shondells in the US in 1967 and became a transatlantic no.1 in the late 80s for Tiffany who will always be associated with shopping malls. She released her tenth album last year and has also done the rounds of various celebrity themed TV programmes.

Haha the average score I gave anything in the last round was 5.325 based on how I distributed them, so I'm going to be in a lot of these bottom 3s.

There weren't that many who spread their scores out so it will be the same people appearing in the low scores list. Those that did spread their scores out will have had more of an effect on the outcome of this than those who bunched most of their scores between 7 and 10 so it was certainly the best way to go about this.

I haven't worked those out. As I'm not using spreadsheets for this, that would take a long time.

Just calculated my average score. Impressive 3.71 :D

Yep, that's the lowest by some distance. I don't think anyone else went lower than 5.

You worked out all of these averages without using a spreadsheet?

That section from 80 to 84 are all unacceptably low ('Don't Stop Movin'' stands out from the others as being more of a guilty pleasure but it's still a classic) :( 'Setting Sun' also far too low but did well to make it to the final really! Oh and 'The Model' being nearly bottom 5 is also absolutely not on. x

My average score in this was 7.59, I was pretty polarised though giving most songs either 0-3 or 7-10.

Yes,I've used pen and paper and a calculator for this. I'm so old school. Every song's scores were added up twice to make sure I made no errors.

I counted the averages, didn't take me long :kink:

I gave a lot of 10s, many songs were absolute classics, so I can see why my average is so high :D

thought Tiffany would be a lot higher, recently learned how to play it on guitar and it's a very fun song to play and sing

although back in the day I was more on team Debbie Gibson :)

Oh! Thanks for doing that Rush. Much appreciated. 😊

While there was plenty of dance music on the charts in the late 90s,this was one of the few songs to actually make it to no.1. The uncredited vocals are by Yolanda Rivera.

ATB - 9am is one of the best dance tracks ever, if not the best
