Posted July 9, 20195 yr Taken from The Lion King's Facebook page: Just Announced: "The Lion King: The Gift", a new album of songs featuring global recording artists and steeped in the sounds of Africa, produced and curated by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, will be released July 19. "Spirit", the single from the album and from the soundtrack for The Lion King, will be available later tonight. https://smarturl.it/beyoncespiritExcited to hear the new song!
July 10, 20195 yr Okay I'm ridiculously excited for this. I'm assuming 'Spirit' is the "TBA" on the official Lion King soundtrack? Edited July 10, 20195 yr by Jαsє
July 10, 20195 yr Author Hmm. First listen it's OK. Can't see myself going back to it much on it's own, but hopefully in the context of the movie/the movie version will make it feel like it belongs in the film. I'm struggling to see where this will fit, when we have 'He Lives In You' already. Hmm... Also I read that someone said this will be as big as Circle Of Life. And I oop. Chart wise I have no idea, but COL as a song is leagues ahead and one of the greatest movie songs of all time  Edit: I think I misinterpreted the post aha. I assume this is just the credits song and not Nala's solo? So kinda the 'Love Me Like You Do'/'All The Stars' of this movie.
July 10, 20195 yr The OCC have announced that there's a separate album which has been curated by Bey released this week, so this might be from that, rather than the movie soundtrack?
July 10, 20195 yr It's very dull, I've listened a few times to try to warn to it but it's the single I've enjoyed least from Beyonce in a while (Perfect aside). If it really is in the movie, it's going to easily be the worst of those songs - I was hoping Nala would give us a new classic.
July 10, 20195 yr I like it! Surely this is just an All The Stars type song rather an instrumental song from the movie?!
July 13, 20195 yr She sounds horrendous & shouty. What happened to her voice? The song itself is boring as hell. It's a NO from me. :puke2:
July 13, 20195 yr Climbs from #198 to #112 on UK Spotify with NMF effect - Can You Feel the Love Tonight debuts one place higher though without playlist support! :o
July 14, 20195 yr Dropped loads on iTunes. I thought her power and name would’ve possibly gotten her an iTunes #1 given how little you need to sell and how huge she is.
July 15, 20195 yr Says a lot about the quality of the song though tbh, I feel like it might be one that grows and feels a lot better within the context of the movie
July 16, 20195 yr wait... there's a beyonce album coming out in two days... is that right? It's music inspired by the film but Beyoncé appears on 10 tracks! The music video for this premieres tonight
July 17, 20195 yr civgUOommC8 I actually really like the song after a few listens! Bey sounds great and it has a really anthemic feel to it, watching the music video has made me very excited to see the movie now
July 19, 20195 yr Debuts at #80 in the UK which isn't too bad considering the music video only has 12 million views and the song has just under 6 million streams on Spotify worldwide
July 25, 20195 yr This has grown on me massively tbh Me too! It sounds like it could easily be a non-film Beyoncé song whilst still being very Lion King at the same time
