I mean, Lights Up is still doing better all round than Nice to Meet Ya...

yet equally, both songs can be hits. it's not a competition

If you really think that a track going from 1 to 88 on US iTunes in 1 week is fine... ok ^_^

You know exactly that Harry's song in not on the radio in the US when Niall's with over 3,000 spins on pop radio only. But I don't see Niall's song in the top 50 of iTunes US with the support like that. Would like to see where it would be if it wasn't played. Please, enjoy Niall's chart performance. I had enough of your salty comments about Harry back in 2017 and don't want to read it again. Thanks.

If there was a direct correlation between radio play and iTunes sales, we could expect Lights Up to be vastly outselling Nice To Meet Ya in the UK, where it was the most played song on Radio 1 last week, and #11 for UK radio airplay - while Niall's song didn't even make the airplay chart. And yet that's not the case. Meanwhile in Australia, Lights Up got more radio play last week, but is being outsold by Nice To Meet Ya. It would seem that iTunes sales are being driven by factors beyond just radio play.

Honestly, I find the comparisons unhelpful because they have quite different approaches to releasing music, but don't shoot the messenger just because you don't like the message they're delivering.

Here's Niall not #1 or cover of huge playlists, and still rising... while others losing 300k streams in 1 day

When do we think he will enter top 50 on global and us Spotify?. Surprised there hasn’t been any tv performances yet, that’s what pushed slow hands to become a hit.

I don't think there's anyone here who isn't clued up. iTunes doesn't matter much at all anyway, because even with a pretty hefty week 2 decline, Harry's #11 in today's midweeks while Niall is #46 on his third week. It's going up but it's pretty slow progress, and Harry's stable on the most important platform - Spotify.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to make a comparison anyway.......

Funny that he is not doing even half of harry's streams while he is in the same playlists. But I love that you are mad. keep going.

There is a direct correlation between radio play, iTunes sales, AND streaming! And everyone knows that. As I know Harry debuted with 36k sales in the UK, more than Niall did in 2 weeks. And Harry debuted at #7 in AU while Niall is nowhere to be found there. It is all connected. Harry's single is not on the radio in the US when it is his biggest market and where people are actually listening to it a lot and Rafael x is trying to pretend he doesn't know that Harry's song is not on the radio there and play it cool like Niall is winning something or somewhere. Well, Niall's song is like #23 on Pop Radio already but not even in the top 50 Billboard Hot 100. I wouldn't even pay attention to Niall's chart run if Rafael didn't bring Harry to his mess. Niall is promoting his music, he is doing interviews, he is in the same playlists on Spotify as Harry. Niall is not winning here. There is nothing to win. Enjoy your fav. music and stop comparing him to Harry. You won't win anyway.

Both offer such different sounds and the music is there to be enjoyed by both.

The insistence that Niall doesn't and will never measure up to Harry is exactly why you have people pointing out where Niall is actually performing better. They're far more evenly aligned than their fans wants to admit. The difference is Harry is perceived as the frontrunner, while Niall is the challenger, fighting for the same level of recognition. Niall's team seems to play the longer game with his single releases, so I'm looking forward to seeing how Nice To Meet Ya builds over time.

If Niall was #1 on today’s top hits he would probably gain over a million more streams on tomorrow’s update. So there really isn’t any type of radio interview that Niall could do to match up to that sort of Spotify payola. Being in the same playlist doesn’t mean anything if one is 21st and the other is 1st. Niall was 4th on new music Friday Harry was also 1st. Niall isn’t even in the top 100 on overall radio so clearly this radio payola is no where near as impactful as Spotify payola.

This is not how it works. #1 spot on any playlist won't give you +1 million streams to what you have. And Harry was at #9 on today top hits the first 4 days but debuted with over 6.7 million streams WW. He is not #1 now there since yesterday but still managed to do almost 3 million streams while Niall stable with 1.1M. Not even close. Nothing to compare here.

Anywayyyyyyyy, I apologize for talking about their chart runs here. I just hope to not see Harry's name/mention in this thread again because it is about Niall and his song.

The song is actually good. Enjoying it way more than Slow Hands for some reason. 'sympathy to the devil' with 'a little less conversation' vibe. I like it.

Niall will perform on the EMA in Sevilla.
Hopefully it continues to climb... if it stalls at 51 it will be very frustrating as I can see it taking off when it hits top 50 on Spotify and may be moved up more on HH
Hopefully it can start increasing, the song deserves an official Top 40 position at the least.

a dumb stan, what a mess but im not surprised

anyway..
