TOO EXCITED FOR THIS. I like the album cover, I don't mind her hair either. GOOD title too and it's getting me excited. Finally this album is coming, I've personally loved the covers she's done recently, but I really need to hear some new original music from her. The next few weeks can't come quick enough! ^_^

She kind of reminds me of Jedward here :lol: But the cover is very similar in style to Emeli Sande, Lady Gaga and Adele I'd say. Lovely album name though!!

Forget JEDWARD! The hair is nowhere near.

That one's just weird, I much prefer the standard! I love the swoosh of hair (for want of a better word!) on both covers, but it doesn't look right covering her face, especially the way you can just see one eye...

Yep, I prefer the standard too! I do really like the black and white colours she's used for both though, it will make it really stand out on shelves and on iTunes!

I like the cover, unfortunately the bald patch is the first thing that caught my eye, in fact, take the long hair out I'd confuse that with Emeli Sande's album cover :lol: what is up with her hair colour atm? it makes her look about 30 years older :(

I've just been reading back through the 'Lights' thread as I wasn't around when it was released! Can't believe I saw Doug write this about Marina! :o Love your user name back then though!

I don't really understand how people think marina is that better tbh. ellie's album has about 9 great songs on it, marina's has about 2.

And it's a good job Doug was around to stick up for Diana earlier in this thread! :wub: Alex is great though!

I agree, anyone who compares average alexandra to the amazing diana vickers is mental. :D

 

Anyway, I'm not trying to sabotage the thread with Diana! I've just be re-listening to 'Bright Lights' as I've only really listened through it all once which I couldn't believe!

 

Listening to it again, I realise how great an album it is. It all flows brilliant, the vocals are great and the production is immense which I've never realised before! My favourite non-singles would have to be This Love and Your Biggest Mistake I think, but I did completely underrate this after first listen. It has made me 100x more excited for 'Anything Could Happen' and 'Halcyon' now! :cheer:

 

oh ryan! :kink: that was way back, and I mean WAY back when I heard 'hollywood' and 'the family jewels' and was quite unimpressed and found them overrated, but they eventually grew on me and I enjoyed her. then 'electra heart' happened and here we are. :P

Hasn't she always has the little shaved bit on the side? I guess it just looks more noticeable on the cover... I do like it though.

 

Wasn't that impressed with her cover of Hanging On but I'm very excited for the single (and album!).

I like all ten tracks on the regular edition of Lights but I can't say I'm bothered by most of the Bright Lights bonus tracks - they all seem to merge into one with the exception of Home, really. Nevertheless, I'm very excited for new music from her!

Have just been reading it's premiering on 13th like you said, And on sale via itunes etc on 21st August!

I actually much prefer the special edition cover! I'm not sure why, I think it's just a more flattering shot of her (or rather, a less terrible shot - you can barely see her face in the new one). I think the colour scheme is a bit better too. That said, none of them are great. :( I'll be getting the special edition I guess; it sounds rather amazing, poor artwork or not.

i really like the covers and I was trying to find out why I find them odd.

It's because for the first time, her album covers don't feature bokeh and lights all over them. I did love that about the lights era.
