all they had to do was have art win episodes 1 and 4 (which she honestly deserved to) and it would have all made sense. instead they clung to the hope that karen would start performing well later in the game and she justโ€ฆ didnt.

ย

final should have been scarlet - anita - kita - art but production unfortunately just miscalculated too many times and dug them self into a hole.

(saying that i know itโ€™s so easy to judge in hindsight as fans - they are obv all great queens who deserved to be there (scarlet aside) so i feel rly bad for them that the season has been perceived this way. hope we get to see more of art and karen in particular in the future)
Iโ€™m fine with never seeing Kkkaren ever again. Iโ€™m fully aware sheโ€™s done a lot more to make amends seemingly for her past behaviour but iโ€™m dumbfounded how could you ever manage to ignore the huge issue with what she was doing? She was more than old enough on the images to know what she was doing was wrong and offensive
But I deffo see Art and possibly Anita and Elektra being brought back for IAS if the first series goes well!

except no one ignored it? the point of calling out problematic behaviour is actually to hold the person accountable for their actions, not shout 'Karen is racist! cancel her forever!' from every rooftop with more distress and hurt caused by more people seeing the dolls.

She addressed the situation and apologised. What else is to be gained by any party involved from airing this to a wider audience? A sense of social justice being served by causing more hatred to be thrown at her when she literally cannot change the past? I get it because it's nice to feel justice because a 'bad' person is being punished over and over and over and over and over but this is a toxic mindset especially if Karen is genuinely sorry for and regrets those things.

ย

It's important to be vigilant and not let that behaviour repeat itself and this is realistically the only thing we can do at this point. Blowing this up would cause more damage than any possible good.

Yah the final 4 should not really have been this lot for sure, other than Kita and Art

ย

Art you can easily make a case for, but I don't think her showing this season was HUGELY strong, it felt like she would be in th final regardless. She didn't do terribly at anything bar Snatch Game though, and had a few good showings.

ย

Karen should have gone week 3 or 4, she was the absolute worst for both of those as well as the talent show and she was also terrible at Snatch Game and the branding challenge. For someone to be in the final after being bad at almost every single thing thrown as the queens is just bizarre. I can't think of another finalist in a normal season (ie not Roxxxy Andrews who was saved by an alliance) who was so bad at some many things across all the different areas a queen has to succeed in on Drag Race  Like she wasn't even a big character or the funny one, she had no storylines, no drama, nothing. I think she seems a nice enough person despite her past (she, unlike Scarlet, has made reparations and seems to understand), she seemed kind to others, but I can't think of a finalist who contributed less to the actual show, like even say Kameron Michaels had being a lipsync assassin.

ย

Scarlet ofc speaks for herself, if we judge on her actual talent and performance on the show, sure, but her racism and lack of meaningful apology should have had no place on the show anyway.

ย

Meanwhile, for the ones who should have been there, Anita's elimination was really really bizarre, for the sake of a shock really when at that point we had already had one with Art, at a point where she shouldn't have been in the bottom anyway? Idk what went on, did they not cast her as a winner and didn't like that she was doing way better than Art and Karen?! Elektra also did I would argue among the best of any queen this season and didn't really fumble at any point bar week 1, yet the judges gave her no credit for most of the series bar her branding win. I know I've said this abot 83 times in this thread, but it was really was bizarre how they had a queen who was good at basically everything (I knew she would be after House Of Drag) and gave her credit almost none of the time! I get that her looks weren't the most polished, but other than week 1, it's not like she looked HIDEOUS every time she came out. Elektra's run for me was the opposite of Karen's, one bad point rather than one high (week 1 for both), then Elektra started doing well at pretty much everything while Karen started doing bad at pretty much everything. Yet Elektra didn't get any credit bar one win, was thrown into the bottom few multiple times when she didn't deserve it and was cut before the finale, whereas Karen was constantly saved and put into the finale.

Thank god Kita won !

ย

Genuinely would have only had her in my top 4 out of the 4 that actually made it. She also seemed so sincere and emotional weโ€™re the other 3 felt like they were trying to squeeze any kind of emotion out to look human or was that just me ? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Nah I totally know what you mean! When there wasn't much of it, I think the pure joy and feeling of sincerity that Kita brings to everything she does really stood out. I think more than challenge wins or anything else on the show, that joy goes such a long way.

For me, this is a different type of wrong to Scarlet's, but seeing what you did wrong is most important. It is not constructive at all to cancel anyone who ever did anything wrong FOREVER when clearly in this situation, Karen has realised what she did wrong and why it was wrong. It really doesn't matter how/why she didn't know it was wrong at the time, that can't change anything now. It's such a waste of energy that can go towards people who are still doing these things, or still can't see properly how the things they did are wrong like Scarlet.

ย

I think if you look at Aussie culture being quite racist, I know that Karen had the dolls since childhood (and disposed of them YEARS ago along with getting the tattoo removed) and I think it's feasible that because of her upbringing, what she might have been around, she just didn't know or realise what the dolls stood for or the hurt the image might cause. Now she clearly does and is continually making reparations and is genuinely sorry. In any case like this, I just know what never forgiving anyone for anything achieves, because it certainly doesn't achieve change and it certainly doesn't help the person learn.

Brilliant video that sums up a lot of the problems with this season! I loooove his videos but they get me re-annoyed when he brings up points I didn't even think of and it makes me more mad at the riggory

ย

ย

- The challenges being generic and just plain bad at times, the talent show point I didn't think of tbh! With All Stars, they know that the talent show is coming and can do a whole production, whereas here they were just thrown a talent show and had to come up with something random they could do in what I assume was just that day. But I'm sure Art or Karen could have done like a lipsync or something instead of a balloon animal and shoving food in their mouth...

ย

- The fact that they rigged the season in favour of unlikeable (Scarlet) or just "there" queens (Karen and lowkey Art), to me honestly it felt like they picked pre-season who they wanted and when Karen turned out to be deathly dull and shit at everything, they just saved her constantly anyway but didn't bother wasting the edit on her? Like I and others mentioned too, Art's edit here was bizarre, like they simultaneously rigged the season for her but also f***ed her over, she was brought back for no reason which was riggory pure and simple but they didn't give her any wins (although I don't think she deserved any bar week 1) nor did they develop her character when she came back. Neither her or Karen really had a storyline or anything shown about them until the interviews at the end in the finale?! If you're rigging th season for someone at least make them interesting to watch  I like Art don't get me wrong, but from this show we didn't get much. I guess the problem is, Karen in particular was bombing the season and there isn't a lot they could do with her edit.

ย

- Double standards, things that have been absolute sins before being overlooked, and other things that were fine being a sin for certain queens. We all mentioned this when Elektra was put in the bottom on a challenge she should have won for basically doing too well - how many times have queens been sent home for not standing out? It's as bad as being awful tbh, if you allow yourself to fade, so why is taking your moment and being a star so bad? The fans love an underdog storyline, but they didn't even bother with that?

ย

- Ru being out of touch, I think it's a brilliant point! Every single queen who walks in has to know Golden Girls inside out or else but Ru just throws you in the bottom for Snatch Game because he can't bothered to understand your character.

I feel like it was rushed, they cast and planned the season with a vague structure and rushed it through. Elektra in particular didn't fit where they wanted her to be. When their structure didn't plan out, they just went with it anyway and the season quickly fell apart.

ย

I keep going on but this video made me re-annoyed, I genuinely can't think of another queen who was constantly robbed as her. I'd argue that of all the queens this season, she was both the most consistent and most versatile, other than week 1 she did great at everything thrown at her, bar a couple of meh runways but I don't think other than week 1, she ever looked BAD as such. After that first week, there was no challenge where I feel she didn't deserve the top and I don't even think I'm being biased. There's been robbed queens in a single week or who went too early/controversially just for the sake of a shock (Anita being one for sure), but I can't think of a queen who was constantly robbed of wins and top placements like Elektra was, to only be above safe the week she won was absolute insanity.

Personally I just think it was Ru going โ€œoh shit, no one in America will know who any of these queens areโ€ and kept both Karen and Art to the final based on name alone, as they were probably the two most well known to an American audience before the show aired?

ย

Could be completely wrong though lol
