February 1, 20205 yr Ok scratch that I love it after a couple more listens  I still want Vanessa at Eurovision but DBM is a brilliant song. Part of me thinks something random is gonna win this and Aus will flop.
February 4, 20205 yr LIL is such a tired Sia style thing. DBMD has a lot more going for it. Not sure it would connect with enough televoters, though.
February 4, 20205 yr I worry DBM could be one of those slightly alternative "shock" DNQs that the fans seem to love and just don't connect with the televoting audience for whatever reason :(
February 6, 20205 yr Running order is out: 01 iOTA 02 Jordan-Ravi 03 Jaguar Jonze 04 Jack Vigden 05 Vanessa Amorosi 06 Diana Rouvas 07 Mitch Tambo 08 Casey Donovan 09 Montaigne 10 Didirri Montaigne seems set as the bookies' fave, but Vanessa is shortening in 3rd with Mitch in between them.
February 7, 20205 yr Having heard them all, Don't Break Me is the only competitive song here imo. Not a great selection.
February 7, 20205 yr I'm conflicted. Montaigne's song is probably slightly better than Vanessa's, but I don't love it enough to switch my allegiance to her from Vanessa. I also think that Don't Break Me would only be competitive enough to come mid-table at Eurovision, whereas Vanessa could well manage that as well if the jury support is strong enough for her spectacular vocals. Last year, Sheppard were my favourite act in the line-up by a mile but I was more than happy to back Kate as Zero Gravity was the better song/package. I don't feel like Montaigne ultimately has that same edge over Vanessa, but I imagine she'll still probably win as it does sound bigger.
February 7, 20205 yr Aussievision did a jury final exit poll of 200 votes.... Lessons of Love won by quite some way, 58 votes to Proud and I Am King I Am Queen's 30 with Don't Break Me on 19! Ofc it's a small sample, but it might an interesting sign of how the live performances might change things, given that they've seen the live performances.
February 7, 20205 yr From what I've seen, I think Montaigne mostly performs to a handheld/steadycam during the performance so isn't the best number to watch in the hall which would explain the relatively poor performance in that poll (if it's even representative). Still think Vanessa is their best bet as somebody who can elevate their raw materials with a 5 star performance.
February 8, 20205 yr Really good entry. No idea how it will do at Eurovision though, I don’t expect it to be a huge televote scorer. Surprised Casey won the public vote though not sure why, she wins every public vote she’s a part of. Glad Proud isn’t going to Eurovision though, I love Casey but the song is only ok.

I was surprised for a second but then I'm like no it's Casey ofc she did  Paired with a great vocal, she is just such a lovable person and very popular although ofc it is a SONG contest so I'm glad she couldn't win. I've got no idea about DBM too, love it personally but I could see it being either a shock DNQ or one of those that scrape qualifies due to jury and doesn't make it too far up the right of the scoreboard, but I think Lessons Of Love and Proud probably would have done about the same, perhaps Lessons Of Love would have done a bit better with juries to elevate her that bit more. I'm sad Vanessa won't be going to Eurovision but DBM was the best song.
February 8, 20205 yr I thought Vanessa had easily the most polished, Eurovision-ready performance, but “Don’t Break Me” is the best song so I would’ve been happy either way. The performance looked a bit messy but I’m confident that Australia can tidy it up like they did with Kate.
February 8, 20205 yr I think I'd have preferred Vanessa. I can see Montaigne doing well and it's a fine song but the idea of it bores me.
February 8, 20205 yr I agree "Don't Break Me" has potential to really SLAP in Rotterdam but it needs work. Given this is the same team that produced that transformation in Zero Gravity's staging I'm fairly confident that they can do that BUT they are in what seems to be the tougher semi so this could really go either way. Given Norway's in the same Semi I think Vanessa could have been crowded out by Ulrikke on the ballad front and Destiny on the vocals front (we assume at this point!) so that was probably an accidentally wise decision.
