October 26, 20195 yr Author First day or week peak, sales, streaming counts are only indicators what their listeners want, from fans and from countries with higher music listening population and what sounds more like a hit to them. what matters now is how many will listen to it in the long run on the streaming media. Besides, I did not see the song in the playlists only in nmfs but at the lower end in those lists which are not major. Edited October 26, 20195 yr by myxxd
October 26, 20195 yr They fell to #6 in UK iTunes chart. Not really surprising with no proper promo, they will only fall even further each day.
October 26, 20195 yr Author You mean every hour lol they are out on YouTube videos too no television performance Every day for the premiere week like before that's why. it looks like fans need to get used to it. Chart peaks do not matter in the streaming era already like Nicky said in his interview earlier this year, you just need to get lucky in the streaming. Not the exact words but that's what they meant. Maybe they will re-release these singles in the future again that's why they are not that worried Edited October 26, 20195 yr by myxxd

Maybe they will re-release these singles in the future again that's why they are not that worried I don't see the point in re-releasing a single, I am pretty sure they won't do that. I think they simply know streaming is impossible to deal with for an act like them so they aren't bothered about singles success.
October 26, 20195 yr Author They will. Look at Lewis capaldi's singles, they are under the same label. that is because of streaming. Record label will invest again in a song they think will be a hit. They have the statistics Edited October 26, 20195 yr by myxxd
October 26, 20195 yr Author The important thing for record companies are the album sales and streaming numbers for the singles
October 26, 20195 yr Author Tbh they could have released more singles this year but I think they are doing everything smoothly and conservatively. Conservatively meaning their patterns of releases are like what they've been doing before and smoothly meaning they are not in a rush. They have a major record contract and that's what matters. Take That released two singles before the album both didn't chart but their album is the fastest selling last year and one of the biggest

October 26, 20195 yr Author Releasing more songs (under Universal) at an earlier stage will only mean it will potentially have more views clicks compared to those that they will release five years from now and everything will be under Universal. Of course they will not promote tracks when they were under Sony. Releasing many songs will not mean every single of it will make an album or maybe some can be reserved for the next album or can be forever unreleased and be released in a compilation album or album with unreleased tracks. We will never know when it comes to corporate decisions of a recording company but everything is possible. I've been saying this because they have a successful history of an unreleased demo track that became famous years later and was never released as a proper single. Edited October 26, 20195 yr by myxxd
October 26, 20195 yr Author Fans need to get used to their single's first premiere chart peak not as a basis or a measurement of its success but because we are used to it and fans came from that singles sales era, it will be a harder process for us and may affect the album sales in the future that's why they have said they've been very careful with their decisions as well. And they just came back, many of their listeners maybe have listened only to Westlife and or older stuffs and the new chart rules are new to them but I trust the fans, they will buy their albums no matter what, stood the test of time and they have plenty of non-number ones but they still buy their stuff. Spectrum will be the starting point of the test for them. Singles are just for promotion, there are people that have hit single/s but cannot sell albums and eventually getting dropped. You Are The Reason by Calum Scott is a very popular single (and sounds very Westlife by the way) but its yet to crack the UK top 40. Maybe this is the reason why their new release needs to be a ballad but needs to be something "different" or "urban" not only because it's tge the popular genre now but this they think will have more chances to crack the top 40 than the "you are the reason" sounding single. but if not at least they tried to be innovative. I know it's quite daunting for the fans but it is what it is, it is how it's done now especially for an old act and just came back. they are like starting all over again. Of course they want to have new hit singles again that's why they are doing this and this may be the only way for them Edited October 26, 20195 yr by myxxd
October 26, 20195 yr They were never going to get hit singles, the trend is there for so many acts now that in most cases established acts on the scene for years are struggling on the singles chart but do fairly well with albums. I really can't see the westlife album doing anything less than platinum which is great for them.
October 26, 20195 yr Author They won't get hit singles here in the UK because they are already viewed here as old but if they will look at the market across the pond and label will put money to them and will be successful, other markets will follow even the UK. Remember they are still barely known in the biggest music market. Edited October 26, 20195 yr by myxxd
October 26, 20195 yr What do people mean ‘they won’t get hit singles?’ They’ve already had 2 UK Top 30 hits from this album - HML has been certified silver, the fact is Dynamite was terrible and missed the Top 100 and they are likely to follow the same pattern with the new single. They have proved they can have hits in the streaming era if they release good enough songs.
October 26, 20195 yr I don't know how is My Blood so terrible. It has heartfelt lyrics and nice melody. Lets be honest, if this was released by Ed, I'm sure it would do much better just because he is Ed.
October 26, 20195 yr Author Hello My Love popularity was because of the hype everywhere and they cannot do that to every single that they'll release and when they released Better Man which sounded old mostly to young people but the most familiar sound to their old fans, it went downhill. 13 and 26 are not hits for those old westlife fans who followed them since and are not familiar with the new chart setting Edited October 26, 20195 yr by myxxd
October 26, 20195 yr Author Their last album's single peaked only at #32 and yet the album sold more than 600k copies which peaked at #4 and currently at the top 100 albums of the 2010s. Of course figures will be lesser now because it's 2019 but still. Edited October 26, 20195 yr by myxxd
October 26, 20195 yr Author Dynamite was shockingly bad but the new one is brilliant. They wanted it as the higher pitch version of hello my love I enjoyed Dynamite though, it's a happy song. The thing is, older fans like you and maybe me lol tend to classify those kind of upbeat tracks as album fillers for the kind of artist and the atmosphere of the UK pop music industry they were before but since most of the young streamers like upbeat stuff, they are releasing those kinds. We should just appreciate that they are still working hard for us even if they have millions already even Shane who is probably still the poorest among them. Like they said in an interview, they want to achieve more. I disagree with the argument of some fans that with the high costs of ticket prices and the album packages, this reunion is all just for money, they don't understand the climate of the music industry now.
