Posted September 21, 20195 yr Will start counting these down later, any guesses on what could be top 3, who could be last and what might have done better than expected? With top scores of 10s and 11s going to 6 out of the 10 songs it really is anyone’s game!
September 21, 20195 yr Author 10. Inside Out- avg score: 6.7 1YTjTwJLAPQ Finishing in last place is the cute summer bop, Inside Out. It’s never been a fan favourite, with its rather basic production and no real stand out vocals, a poor mans She Loves Control really! Whilst the middle 8 is in my favourite parts of the album the repetitive and general production really lets this song down so I’d say it’s probably in about the right place. Although it finishes last, it’s score isn’t all that awful with the song receiving 4 nine scores, however a ton of middling 5/6 scores have really dropped it down to the bottom of the pack!
September 22, 20195 yr Author 9. All These Years- avg score-6.8 nzfQEGsFr4g In 9th we have a song I thought would have done a little better here. Not a standout by any means but a cute acoustic number nonetheless and those runs are really quite impressive. Among the slower numbers of the album (which we do have quite a few of) I’d rank this a little higher. A lot of middling scores, and one 2 see this finish second to last despite receiving a 9.5 score as well. Not a bad average and not a bad song but definitely doesn’t compare to some of the tracks still to come!
September 22, 20195 yr Author 8. Consequences- avg score-6.9 ogyJiVHwSRA Our first single drops out at number 8 as the emotional Consequences leaves us. The song gave us a Cole Sprouse video and a rather unnecessary orchestral version, which sadly did nothing to help its chart peaks as it did pretty much nothing chart-wise. The song is a darker one for Camila as she sings about tough topics including starving herself and being in a toxic relationship. I didn’t expect this to leave us this early, particularly as it was a single so you’d think more fans enjoyed it enough for Camila to make it one however I didn’t expect it much places higher than this one so around here seems just. The song received 9 and 10 scores however more middling scores including a 4 and a 3 see it this low. What songs were more worthy of single choices then?
September 22, 20195 yr 'Consequences' is my least favourite on the album, I've always found it dull :( 'She Loves Control' deserved single treatment over it definitely!
September 23, 20195 yr Author 7. In The Dark- avg score- 7.4 NGPgr8tnWfw At number 7 we see a jump in average to 7.4 where we see In The Dark bow out, sadly. I really thought this would be quite a bit higher at least higher than 2 songs still to come! It’s a cute mid-tempo song about love and going into a relationship and is a lovely change of pace after a slew of ballads. Achieving a mix of scores between 5-9 sees this finish in this position, seemingly not a standout track for anyone but just a decent song on the track list. Definitely not single-worthy for me but a fun number from her nonetheless and a pretty good average really!
September 23, 20195 yr Author 6. Something’s Gotta Give- avg score- 7.5 8nsWMmFYRqE Just missing out on a top 5 placing is Something’s Gotta Give, a track I probably would have put towards the bottom of the rankings, behind all but Inside Out oops. I must say the lyrics in this are some of the album’s most poignant and beautiful and the sparse production is quite hauntingly beautiful. This song like In The Dark prior got scores between 5 and 9 to average out a rather good score for an album track! So left we have- Havana (feat. Young Thug) Into It Never Be The Same Real Friends She Loves Control Any guesses to where everything will rank?
September 23, 20195 yr 01. Havana 02. She Loves Control 03. Into It 04. Never Be The Same 05. Real Friends ...is what I'm going to go for! That would be a perfect top 2 if so.
September 24, 20195 yr 1. Havana (feat. Young Thug) 2. She Loves Control 3. Never Be The Same 4. Real Friends 5. Into It :magic:
September 26, 20195 yr Author 5. Real Friends- avg score- 7.6 bg7RjxsghNY A real fan: JordanLee (11) *just* finishing in the top 5 is the penultimate single of the era, Real Friends, a song that really should have done better chart-wise and I think the fans thought it would. Unfortunately the single edit featuring Swae Lee did not do the songs any favours :(. The song is an acoustic number featuring lovely vocals and a quite sad theme really, the chorus is instantly catchy and memorable and seemed a ton more accessible/ commercial than Never Be The Same it was released alongside. Receiving one 5 hindered the score of this despite it also receiving our first 11 of the countdown thus far from Jordan Lee.
September 27, 20195 yr All These Years and Consequences are too low. Real Friends making it to 5th was a shock though. My 11 must’ve helped it out but I had a feeling it would’ve been one of the first out tbh. Into It is way too high!
September 29, 20195 yr Author 4. Into It- avg score- 8.1 f2WqhlOwTyM They sure are Into It: Jonjo (11), LMLou (11) Defying all expectations at 4 we see Into It, the closing track of the album (if you don’t include the radio edit of Never Be The Same tagged on to some of them). If I remember correctly OfficialCharts.com claimed this song would be “bigger than Havana” and I suppose we’ll never know because it never got the single treatment. It’s a fun, uptempo cheeky number full of character and I can see why it’s a fan fave but it’s never been one of my favourites off the album for whatever reason, it’s just never had the same punch as ballads like Consequences and All These Years. Nevertheless we see a jump in average here into the 8’s which is really impressive for a non-single however not even the highest rated non-single which is still to come! The song received a lowest score of 5.5 but also received 2 11s coming from Jonjo and LMLou so clearly has its love on this site! With 3 left, what will come where and what will be victorious!
September 29, 20195 yr Never got the Into It love. The most generic song on her debut album in my opinion.
October 5, 20195 yr Author 3. Never Be The Same- avg score- 8.5 Ph54wQG8ynk In their blood, in their brain, in their heads: George.keh (11), Frenchie (10) Finishing 3rd we have my personal favourite off the album (and all time Camila song) Never Be The Same. The song is an experimental pop song featuring some impressive vocals using her lower register and rather high register as well. The song was a pretty big hit worldwide hitting the top 10 in both the UK & US as well as multiple other countries. This was a real risk of a song as a single imo as it doesn’t sound like anything any else in the charts/ has been in the charts since so was really happy this paid off for her. The song received scores between 5 and 11 and received the top score from 2 members, resulting in the rather good average. Still not as loved as one of the non-singles though!
October 7, 20195 yr Author 2. She Loves Control- avg score- 9.18 nKcKreZJYfI She loves, She Loves Control: NickF1 (10) Barely and I mean *barely* missing out on the top spot is surely one of the most undeserving non-singles of the 2010s In She Loves Control. A song immediately labelled as a smash hit by everyone who heard it was sadly never made a single instead Camila chose Real Friends & Consequences. The song is a Latin-inspired pop banger showcasing her vocals in that middle 8 (wow) and despite no promotion managed to peak *just* inside the top 40 at number 40 upon the album’s release. The song received no score lower than 7 and received 6 scores of 10, one of which being the highest score awarded by NickF1. The score is a real high especially for a non-single but was pipped to the post by just 0.04 in average which of course goes to- 1. Havana (feat. Young Thug)- avg score- 9.22 HCjNJDNzw8Y Half of their heart goes to Havana: JosephStyles (11), ...readyforit (11), Blacksquare (10), Jack (10), Jade (11), Frenchie (10) And at number 1 we have former UK and US Official Number 1, the almighty Havana featuring American rapper, Young Thug. The song was initially released alongside OMG (which initially had the higher peak) but ended one of the biggest hits of the decade and for sure at the time of writing this her signature song. The song was immediately loved by fans for its embracement of Latin music using the piano as well trumpets to compliment references to the capital of her home country. The song received an impressive 3 scores of 11 from JosephStyles, ...readyforit, and Jade and 3 further highest scores from Jack, Blacksquare and Frenchie of 10. Was this your winner and do you think the results were mostly accurate? Thanks for rating guys I’ve loved counting down what I think is one of the best debut albums of recent times, thank you!
October 9, 20195 yr Perfect outcome!! Love all of the top 3 but that absolutely feels like the right order. Thanks for hosting George!!
