Yeah it'll be interesting to see how J Hus does, I listened to it and I wouldn't say it "sounds" like a hit

Must Be should be an easy top 20 at least just for being J Hus' comeback.

I suspect the new Dave track will also debut high as it's his long awaited attempt at UK Drill.

New tracks from Young T & Bugsey/Headie One and Fredo could also impact (and CamelPhat if we're lucky).

Dave is already at #8 on Apple Music so definitely expecting a high new entry from him, at least top 5 I reckon (apparently the song has existed as a snippet on social media for a while so it's built up a fair amount of hype already). Have been thinking for a while that J Hus will probably have a big hit on his hands whenever he eventually releases a proper single again, surprised that it took him this long to do so but interested to see how big it will be - #29 on Apple Music so also off to a good start there and it has strong off-the-bat playlist support on Spotify so perhaps could also be a top 10 debut?

 

Young T & Bugsey are only #169 on Apple Music, although of course their 2 previous hits were both slow burners anyway. No sign of the new Fredo song in the entire top 1,500 somehow!

Hus climbing very quickly, gonna predict him and Dave will both end up debuting top 5 this week. I've heard both songs now, the Dave song is pretty good but unfortunately quite underwhelmed by 'Must Be', it's a little too bare bones (although could see it being one that gets stuck in my head so maybe it'll be a grower).

that's the thing about the UK, Hot Hits supports pop more than urban so the top is usually more pop-centric

but no one can deny that urban acts have it easier than anyone else to enter the charts now

Only the biggest names with established fanbases (and viral hits / songs being heavily pushed by playlists) 'easily' get into the charts the same as any other genre. No one on here closely follows the careers of less successful rappers (especially UK rappers) so they don't get as much attention here as artists from other genres who struggle to get into the charts.

 

Unrelated: Ant Saunders entering here very quickly as I predicted - looks like it might be climbing even faster than Arizona.

new George Michael goes to #1 on iTunes but cannot even make the top 200 on Spotify, sure no bias at all

There's not really a bias if a song by a musician who was big 30 years ago and who has passed away doesn't interest streaming generation.

 

However, I agree about the rock comment: there are lots of potential new rock stars for streaming audience too (Sam Fender, Gerry Cinnamon, Rex Orange County) who could be treated better on playlisting.
