No one is going to listen to this Ariana rip off trash at Christmas. Sorry. Where you at, Jojo? You attacked me over my prediction when, once again, I was the ONLY ONE to get it right. Whoops.

But the point at hand is that Woman Like Me is being seen as an underperformance, when it's far from one...!

I know what point you were making, but I was mainly talking about the “it wasn’t remotely a problem for the LM5 era” part of your post. WLM obviously did well in the grand scheme of things, but it clearly wasn’t the best choice to lead the album with (similarly to Move in that respect).

You would have predicted it to "miss the top 40" even if it was a SOTME smash... so be quiet. No one takes your opinion seriously coz you bang on about it until the point where it is right or whatever.

You said they were over after their last album... LM5 happened. Pretty sure you also stated that they'd "split before the end of the year".. they're currently still together and have announced a Summer tour, with a reality show starting in the new year... so guess what mate... :)

You keep repeating the same rubbish just to antagonise and get reactions and you don't like it. Just stay away from this forum. It's not about having a different opinion, plenty of others have said their piece about the track and don't get mobbed for it. We call YOU out on it, coz you're a troll at this point.

Anyway...

I'm disappointed with it's performance. However, the thing that's keeping me quite optimistic about it all is that any new Christmas song that was released in November/December seemed to have struggled. It wasn't just these girls. Mabel and Taylor (the latter being one of the biggest popstars in the world rn with the former as one of the biggest new British acts) struggled with their new efforts too. So LM out performing them is pleasantly surprising to me.

The issue is with the big Christmas playlists last being updated in October and then not being touched until less than a week ago. We all know how reliant singles are on playlist support nowadays. Nobody gets a pass and that's really sad to see. But like numerous others have said, I doubt a niche Xmas single is gonna hinder their progress as much as some like to believe it will, but they definitely have their work cut out for them, so we'll see. They are still at the point where they just need a Black Magic/Shout Out To My Ex to bounce back (lol) quite easily.

gained over 800k streams in todays update. next christmas they need to push this harder! put it in the biggest playlists, do performances etc as i think this can be big every christmas if they actually push it
TBF as much as we hate a smug bitch, I predicted this would flop too. The girls have lost their way. They need to find it again and sharpish or their move to another label will look very silly. They have such talent and all this time we thought Syco was terrible at managing them - seems they knew what they were doing after all!

But we also, we have to think about the likes of Mabel and Taylor (both bigger streaming forces rn than LM) flopped harder than LM did. All of their problems were that the main/big Spotify playlists didn't update since October when they all released their Christmas songs.

I get what you guys are saying, kinda, but I dunno if you can put too much into the niche xmas single doing nothing. Their last huge hit was only a year ago. So they can def pull it back with a proper comeback. Plus, we will get to see how RCA work (I'm personally not confident with RCA) but with the right track and the same kinda airplay/promotion that Bounce Back received, they'll be fine. I feel like RCA won't allow another Bounce Back to happen.

I may be "blind" or "naïve" to it all, but I'm just remaining optimistic about our options and exploring all avenues rn. And if their next album is their last, idgas. They've had an incredible run. As much as I'd love them to, they can't/won't go on forever. I'm so excited for album 6! *.*

Edit: I'm not having a go btw aha (I think/hope you know that)

All they have to do is comeback with a great pop song and they’ll be fine. They still have the fans and radio support and we know they can make good music.

The public won’t forget about them anytime soon:

Tv show in the new year

Summer tour selling well (as always)

They just need to get ‘that’ song again and it will be OK.

Do they though? WLM only got a few weeks top 10 due to good faith with radio. That has now gone. Cowell will not allow the radio to play his ex Cowell band. They aren't talented. They care more about being Instagram models. They are finished.

Last time I checked 10 didn’t mean a few but okay. Also have definitely heard ‘One I’ve Been Missing’ on the radio.

When I said they had lost their way, I wasn't being specific to the Christmas single. It's the latest in a long line of mistakes they've made and it's sad to see a band who were literally the biggest girl group in the world two years ago start to fade away alarmingly quickly. I really hope they can pull it back with a big single and a proper album campaign.

they need better material - full stop. lm5 was not the one + the one song that could have smashed (forget you not) was left in the cold.

if their label really care about them, they'll get them working with some bigger producers. it's lovely they let leigh-anne write etc but.. we need some smashes, girls.

I know you wasn't being specific to the Christmas single aha (sorry, re-reading my post back and I understand why you thought that I did ). The only "real" mistake that we can truly account for is Bounce Back. Irregardless of how people personally feel towards WLM, that was a huge hit for them. Then the release of the album/Think About Us (promo being months apart/before the actual single release for example) was a mess due to label politics and being in the transitioning period of moving labels (via a very public and messy label switch).

Bounce Back had great promo and airplay. But the song really wasn't it, clearly. I still bop to it personally, but the general public didn't connect with it despite promo and airplay (& then ofc the Xmas single which I've stated about before).

I'm keeping everything crossed that WLM > TAU > BB is just their 2nd Move > Little Me > WU moment and they have another pop anthem like Black Magic up their sleeve to get the public back and it'll be nice to have a complete era under a new label, before deciding/discussing it's over for them or whatever. Serve us the bops. Give us more Touch, Wasabi & Forget You Not's, mixed with your Black Magic, Shout Out & Secret Love Songs. *.*

They need to work smart and get the next era right. The decline in sales in 2 albums was huge so I hope they can get the material to reverse that.

It did. But I'm just happy that their song was higher than Taylor and Mabel  (As I believe it proves just how reliant and important Christmas songs are on good playlisting positions etc..)

Hoping it can go top 40 at some point next year. We shall see!

It's 1st November.

Will many of you be going back to this or not?

I will definitely be going back to it as I find it really cute! Do I wish it was more of a UTT/AIWFCIY/OMS/STM type Christmas Bop? Of course!

Also, Spotify don't update their Christmas playlists after October and this isn't on their main one (Christmas Hits - Taylor is though) so don't expect this back in the streaming charts! Just enjoy it for yourself and anything else will just be an added bonus :D
