I'm so disappointed this couldn't become a hit for Camila. It's so different to anything she's released before and sounds much more mature and cool than something like Liar (no matter how much I like that song). The album release has done absolute wonders for Camila in my chart. This was looking like being my weakest #1 of the year but the album release has pushed it above 4 others (plus Rainfall). One more Camila track to go.

Just missing out on a top 40 place is the chillingly beautiful 'Ghostin'. This is the song I really wished she would have performed on tour but I completely understand her reasons for not doing so. This is a song that I cannot listen to passively, every time it's on I get fully immersed into the emotions of the song. I first listened to TUN while walking to uni for a 9 AM lecture and I was not prepared at all to listen to this track

Not content with just kicking off the top 50, Jay1 also kicks off the top 40, this time with 'Mocking It'. Despite not having as impressive a run in my charts as 'Your Mrs' I prefer this track no end. The beat to this track is really interesting and Jay1 flows over it really well in the distinctive style he's created for himself.

I was a little bit worried going into Romance's release as Cry For Me & Easy weren't doing anything for me and I was originally a little put of by her very high-pitched singing voice in this song but as soon as I heard the album that feeling went away. I got used to her voice very quickly and this (and at the start of 2020, Cry For Me) managed to climb to #1. This is a really stunning track and just so pleasant to listen to. It is also the highest placed Camila track and is one that probably would have kept creeping higher and higher in my countdown had the year gone on for longer.

I never knew the world needed a song where someone raps over a beat designed to sound like a mobile-phone ringtone but it just works so well. The lyrics don't always match up with the airy, fun beat but it sounds so good you don't care. I'm really disappointed this couldn't reach the top 40 because it sounds like a song which had all the potential to do so. The video is unintentionally hilarious though, one of the supposed school-children looks about 40 and it feels like a bit of a farce to see someone twerking to the old Nokia tone

Cole is currently my favourite rapper (with Kendrick a very close 2nd) and is able to get a hit here anytime he wants. I was delighted that this became his first proper UK hit with it going top 10 and holding well. This just shows how much I'm a fan that a song that is absolutely nowhere near his finest can still easily command a EOY top 40 place. Great video for this although it does not top his absolutely perfect video for 'Wet Dreamz'.

When I said in the previous post that Cole was my favourite rapper at the moment, I was of course talking about in the mainstream because this man consistently makes my favourite music. This song is weird, I'm still not sure what I think of the first 30 seconds or so but after that it moulds back into a normal Watsky song that I very much enjoy. I'm always going to be excited for new music from him but I feel he hasn't had a proper killer single for a while and I don't think this is it.

This song is pure joy. Chance's flows are hype and DaBaby's verse is one of the best of the year. It's just such a shame MadeInTYO's verse exists. I enjoy it less and less every time I hear this song. It's dull and feels like it drags out for about ten years. The song probably would have been another 10 places higher if it wasn't for that because as soon as he's finished the song goes straight back into being high-octane, energetic fun. It has a fun video too which helped it re-enter my top 10 after its release.

As you can see with Butterflies finishing top 10 last year and the song AJ still has to come, I do prefer his more laid-back and low-paced tunes and Banglez provides a great chilled-out instrumental for him and Mo to spit over. This song has a really cool vibe and is the sort of tune I'd put on when I want to relax. I always wonder how producers, like Banglez, decide which beats to let other artists to use without official crediting and which ones they keep for themselves.

A lot of artists decided that 2019 was the year the were trying to take over the Christmas market, but this is the only one that made any sort of impact on me (in fact this, Santa Tell Me & One More Sleep are the only (serious) Christmas songs I'd listen to from at least the last 20 years). I love the video to this with it incorporating clips from the LM5 tour which brings back many great memories of seeing them for the first time (sans performing Wings at One Love Manchester) in Liverpool. I anticipate me going back to this a lot again next year.

D-Block Europe's EOY History:

Home P*ssy is the highest-placed track from critically-lauded and now BRIT-nominated duo D-Block Europe :kink: This song is their magnum opus, it's catchy as hell, Young Adz is on fire and even Dirtbike LB puts in a decent verse. No surprise that this became their biggest hit. I'm sure that this will be everyone else's favourite song in my countdown.

Hi Lewis!

Here are the songs that I've enjoyed since the last comment:

39. Camila Cabello - Living Proof Love it

44. Dave - Professor X

45. Camila Cabello - Liar

51. Ariana Grande - Imagine

52. Dave ft Ruelle - Lesley One of the best songs from PSYCHODRAMA

55. Jax Jones, Martin Solveig & Madison Beer - All Day And Night

57. Mabel - Mad Love Will appear on my top 100 Year-end list too

59. Tiësto & Mabel - God Is A Dancer Really like this!

60. Ariana Grande - Bad Idea

62. Stormzy - Sounds Of The Skeng

64. AJ Tracey ft MoStack & Not3s - Floss

66. Headie One ft Dave - 18Hunna

75. Taylor Swift - Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince

77. Billie Eilish - Bad Guy Will appear on my top 100 Year-end list too

80. Stormzy - Vossi Bop

81. Camila Cabello - Cry For Me

82. Skepta ft Nafe Smallz - Greaze Mode

84. Taylor Swift - You Need To Calm Down

85. The Weeknd - Heartless Not as good as "Blinding Lights", but still great!

88. Taylor Swift ft Brendon Urie - Me Will appear on my top 100 Year-end list too

Professor X was another pretty good track from Dave, and although I wasn't keen on Middle Child at first it did grow on me, would definitely say it's my favourite from J. Cole now!

Still can't believe D-Block Europe have been nominated at the BRITs

I have to agree about Lesley. It's my 2nd favourite track from the album.

I look forward to seeing where Mad Love, Bad Guy & Me land in your countdown :D

Loving the Camila impact, all of those songs deserved better :(

She's been so good this era! It's such a shame to see her struggle to have the same success as her first album.

Professor X was another pretty good track from Dave, and although I wasn't keen on Middle Child at first it did grow on me, would definitely say it's my favourite from J. Cole now!

Middle Child is a solid pick as favourite J. Cole track. Mine would probably be Apparently, 1985 or Wet Dreamz.

I was taken aback when I heard about D-Block Europe. Didn't think I'd ever see the day

The whole 'Complaint' album was highly experimental from Watsky with most of the tracks baring little resemblance to what he's done before (or to each other). This song shares more DNA with a indie song than a rap song and makes use of autotune to a very good effect. 2019 has been the year where I've embraced the calmer, more laidback songs from my favourite artist and this is no exception, although the songs at the top of my chart will not back this claim

The girls absolutely killed this one during tour which is the main reason it ends so high here. Originally, not a favourite of mine from LM5, it keeps worming itself up in my affections. It's criminal that the Tik Tok effect was not enough to get this to chart at all. :( I believe that this song becomes the first ever to get added to it's 'weeks in chart' stat, both the '+' to signify it was in my final chart of the year and the 'in 2019' to signify it had charted in a previous year. :o

Tyler, The Creator's EOY History:

2019 29 I Think

Has there ever been a better turnaround in music than Tyler? He went from shock-core rapper with ok albums who spat controversial lyrics to offend to accepting himself and coming out as bisexual and releasing one of the best albums of the 2010's. Igor is a masterpiece and this is certainly one of the high points. This track is beautiful; Solange's vocals mix so well with Tyler's on the chorus. 'I Think' is heavenly and has held up for me better than the other Tyler song that is going to finish above it here.

'Mocking It' a good follow-up to 'Your Mrs' this was for me. 'Middle Child' that was in my EOY countdown. 'Fashion Week' a good tune from them just missing out on my End of Year Top 40.
