January 3, 20205 yr Author 25 - Ellie Goulding - River Ellie's Christmas song, but not too Christmassy, surprisingly won one of the most surprising chart battles of the year! :o Well, it was very nice to see her at the top of the UK charts four years since her last chart topper. Good for her, it was a big surprise to me, I thought she was already condemned to be just another irrelevant former pop star and I was happy to be proven wrong. :P _8IoUoH3-EE Edited January 5, 20205 yr by Jason
January 5, 20205 yr Author 24 - CamelPhat & Cristoph - Breathe (feat. Jem Cooke) Camelphat's third UK top 40 in the last 3 years, this song is pure lush, it makes me want to listen to it over and over again. I hope this dance duo have a great year in the charts. DKRcqtNSP-4
January 6, 20205 yr Author It was great to see 'River' get that #1 for Ellie. Unexpected surprise that was. The most surprising is the power of one Amazon exclusive. :P Thanks for commenting Mack :P
January 6, 20205 yr Ellie Goulding is never irrelevant!! I really enjoyed 'River' too, although not quite enough to be 25th of the year it will continue to rack up the plays every December for sure. Breathe was one of my absolute faves of the year, it'll be even higher in my chart!
January 7, 20205 yr Author Ellie Goulding is never irrelevant!! I really enjoyed 'River' too, although not quite enough to be 25th of the year it will continue to rack up the plays every December for sure. Breathe was one of my absolute faves of the year, it'll be even higher in my chart! Ellie is definitely one of my fave female singers from the last decade especially her features on 2 Calvin Harris songs. Camelphat had 2 great singles last year, but don't expect to see 'Be Someone' in my list. Thanks Dan ^_^
January 8, 20205 yr Author 23 - Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved I'm not surprised this is 2019's best selling single in the UK, it's really good, I'm happy his success is not restricted to the UK & Ireland only. He had strong competition from Ed Sheeran and Stormzy, but I think I can consider Lewis the act of the year. Also want to give an honourable mention to Before You Go, another Lewis simple but beautiful song. zABLecsR5UE Edited January 8, 20205 yr by Jason
January 8, 20205 yr Looks like I'll probably know most of your Top 25 looking at the first 3 songs then :P I charted all three of them in my own chart actually although none of them made my Top 40, I think Breathe is probably my favourite in hindsight but that's probably because it suffered the least from overplay.
January 9, 20205 yr Author Unfortunately 'Someone You Loved' not for me, Jason. Yes, I knew it Mack. No problem. :P Looks like I'll probably know most of your Top 25 looking at the first 3 songs then :P I charted all three of them in my own chart actually although none of them made my Top 40, I think Breathe is probably my favourite in hindsight but that's probably because it suffered the least from overplay. Yes, I got a feeling you'll know my entire top 25 Pete. I wish Camelphat had suffered from overplay because they deserve more success than they have had. :(
January 9, 20205 yr Author 22 - Aitch - Taste (Make It Shake) From YouTube to the fame. The 20-year-old British boy had a great 2019. I wonder if his 15 minutes of fame will last longer than 1 year though. :P Generally, I'm not into rap songs, but this song is very catchy and I like his attitude. nDuVsE6yGdA
January 9, 20205 yr 'Taste' (Make It Shake), this was a tune from him. I wonder too if his 15 minutes of fame will last one year.
January 10, 20205 yr Author 'Taste' (Make It Shake), this was a tune from him. I wonder too if his 15 minutes of fame will last one year. His Buss Down was good too. On the other hand, his several 2019 features were just meh to me. :P
January 10, 20205 yr Author 21 - Sigrid - Don’t Feel Like Crying I'm still so happy this talented Norwegian pop girl got his second UK top 20 with this pop gem. She's still so young and relatively new to the music business and I think we'll hear more about her in the coming months and years. w5x93pXSmRM
January 10, 20205 yr Someone You Loved is a nice enough song although it was too big in the chart for my liking. Taste I also enjoyed, it's definitely the best he's got so far.
