cornflakes,

cornflakes, cornflakes, cornflakes, cornflakes,

cornflakes, cornflakes, cornflakes, cornflakes......

Is it still voted for by NME kids? If so then Alex Turner will be in the top 10 along with Pete Doherty and Carl Barat. I guess joining them will be Faris Rotter from the Horrors, the lead bloke from The Klaxons, Johnny ****ing Borrell, the blonde kid from My Chemical Romance and Lily Allen...and, an outside shot really, for Kate Jackson of the Long Blondes.

Not very cool at all really.

Pete Doherty

Julian Casablancas :cheer:

Kate Jackson

Mike Skinner :cheer:

Carl Bârat

Alex Turner

Jamie 'Cookie' Cook

Lily Allen :puke2:

Possibly Luke Pritchard (sp?) :puke2:

Why would Gerard Way from MCR be in a NME list? Isn't NME indie??

Well, there aint exactly a huge gulf between MCR and the stuff NME regularly praises.... Only real difference is the clothes.

Sounds about right.

Predictable NME as usual. :puke2:

Pete Doherty < I hate him so much, i wish he'd **** off -_- how is that t*** cool -_-

Well, he's the very epitome of 'cool' to the deluded fools who read that garbage mag, and to the pricks who write for it....

I hate how the press write about all of the stupid things that he does and virtually praises him! Kate moss should **** off aswel

Yes there is. MCR's music isn't indie.

Faris Rotter and Pete Doherty are dead certs. its really annoying cos i HATE them both.

It's not far off Royston... Whether you agree or not... I'd agree that MCR's first album was certainly not Indie, but they've been getting poppier and poppier... And frankly i dont see much clear blue water musically between MCR or many of the bands that NME regularly goes apesh!t over...

In fact, dare I say it, MCR aint that far removed these days from Busted or McFly....

And it depends on your definition of 'Indie' as well, I would say that over 90% of what NME covers is nowt to do with real Indie.... It's guitar pop... And that's what MCR is, guitar pop.... :P

Checked and it is NME journalists who choose the list, probably largely guided by Conor McNicholas' plans for the year ahead. 'Cool list' here is merely a chance for the NME to push the bands they want to cover to the readers...whether that be their mates who are easy to get hold of for interviews or a genuine wish to push music from boring to interesting. Every year though, you look back and think 'who?' at a large number of the entries.

Oh, and Gerard Way was number 20 in the list last year, so there's every chance of him being in there. NME have always covered whatever 'alternative' music is popular and that includes emo. Mores the pity.

Expect dance music to make a return too though in the shape of Simian Mobile Disco, Justice and the 'new rave' tinged Klaxons, $h!tdisco, Gossip and Trash Fashion.

As for Luke from the Kooks being in there...if he makes the top 50 I promise I will never buy NME ever again.

That's about the size of it mate.. The NME used to be a good mag at one point, but even when it was they still pushed a load of UTTER guff on us that had no real relevance to anyone living outside Camden, North London/NW1 area (I'm thinking of such 'glittering' long-lasting successes -ie, overhyped c**p - like Menswear, SMASH, These Animal Men, the whole early 90s 'Romo' - abortive 'New Romantic' revival - thing, Elastica, Sleeper, Echobelly, etc, etc....)...

And you still actually read NME...???? :o

Yes I do agree with you. I just hate them being compared to Busted and McFly all the time.
