Strange that Madonna didn't receive a nomination for International Soloist in 1990 for Like a Prayer - her most critically applauded album at that point - when she did in 1993 and 1995 (although I guess she performed at the 1995 ceremony so perhaps a win was a bargaining tool? A shame they stopped supporting her after Confessions.

I’m currently looking at the winners of the awards she lost out on and Natalie Imbrulgia In 1999 shook me so much! I also had to look up Kd Lang as well!

 

Especially when that would’ve been Ray of Light era Madonna her most critically acclaimed record ever! Wow.

 

Madonna really is under appreciated at both The BRITs and GRAMMYs!

I think Macy Gray beat her one year from memory .

Macy Gray won International Female in 2000 - Madonna wasn't nominated but Macy did beat the likes of Britney, J-Lo and Whitney.
