Posted March 7, 20205 yr So we're still waiting on the last few stragglers (Noted repeat offenders Malta, Russia, Azerbaijan and North Macedonia still outstanding) and Portugal will be all wrapped up around midnight GMT but even then I think we've got a fairly solid idea of what kind of thing those countries are likely to bring - and one thing I think we've missed this year due to the backloading of the song reveals is discussions about the running order/differences between the halves of the semis. So this is what we're looking at Semi One First Half Australia Belarus Ireland Lithuania North Macedonia Russia Slovenia Sweden Second Half Azerbaijan Belgium Croatia Cyprus Israel Malta Norway Romania Ukraine Semi Two First Half Austria Czech Republic Estonia Greece Iceland Moldova Poland San Marino Serbia Second Half Albania Armenia Bulgaria Denmark Finland Georgia Latvia Portugal Switzerland
March 7, 20205 yr Author First general observations: JESUS CRISTO Semi One is the biggest bloodbath I've ever seen at this stage of the game. Australia and Ukraine will have a fight on their hands to keep their 100% Qualification record. The flip side of that is that Semi Two, specifically the back half of Semi Two has a lot of stuff that you wouldn't call as a definite qualifier. There'll probably be one or even two songs that qualify by virtue of being in the "easier" semi that then do absolutely nothing in the final and help the UK finish 22nd rather than 24th.
March 7, 20205 yr Ireland will struggle to get through. Sweden Norway Australia Ukraine Malta Lithuania Israel Russia Romania Will all go through from.Semi 1.
March 7, 20205 yr Death slot picks: Slovenia (definitely) and Poland (maybe Estonia as an alternative) North Macedonia (unheard but meant to be up-tempo) or Ireland to open semi 1, Czech Republic to open semi 2 Israel (or Malta if Destiny is bringing an up-tempo) to close semi 1, Denmark to wrap up semi 2 Semi 1 does look like more of a fight even with one less country. I think Australia are at risk, but I’m not too worried about Ukraine. Slovenia, Belarus, Belgium and Croatia are definite NQs I reckon

March 8, 20205 yr Latvia closing Semi 2 would really not go well for it, that sort of song needs to be on earlier. I'd be putting Switzerland or Denmark there. Did wonder about Bulgaria but that drama would work very well in 12th or so so I won't call it as a closer. Most of my favourites are in semi 2 so I'm happy to see that be the one not described as a bloodbath.
March 8, 20205 yr Semi 1 is 2018 Semi 1 all over again. I think we just accept now that there will be a lot of upset on May 12th.

March 10, 20205 yr Belgium lowkey feels like an accidental last place in the semi to me, a bit like Triana Park like it's not BAD (Line was amaze tho) but it's just gonna fail to grab anyone in many ways tbh. I can see it being between Israel and Malta and ending up totally lost.

Azerbaijan adding fuel to the fire now as well :')
March 10, 20205 yr Looking at the lack of proper uptempos in Semi 2/2 Latvia has a good chance to stand out actually yay
