I enjoy dancing queen but its there most used or covered song so I go through phases for it. I enjoy knowing me knowing you it would be among my faves.

Knowing Me Knowing You is one of their best,no doubt. For me,The Day Before You Came would be 1st followed by One Of Us in 2nd place. They are both songs I appreciate more now than I did at the time they were out.

I've enjoyed reading through the thread.

Great thread Popchartfreak. Must admit I'd not heard of some of Agnetha's solo songs but they're rather good.

I'm the same with Dancing Queen - I love it but I could do with not hearing it for a few years to make it fresh again :D

Thanks Rollo! I agree about their later stuff, the big surprise for me re-playing everything was how well tracks off the last album did in my ratings. Maybe it's because it was largely not included in the Mamma Mia phenomenon and over-familiar, or maybe it's because it has a more subtle charm. Jury's out at the mo... :D

Thanks Chris, glad you liked them, I was hoping to promote some of the lesser-known stuff

Lay All Your Love On Me is comfortably my favourite ABBA song - possibly down to the fact that I liked Erasure before I'd ever heard ABBA.

Here's my Top 10 then.

1. Fernando

2. That's Me

3. The Piper

4. Super Trouper

5. The Day Before You Came

6. As Good As New

7. The Winner Takes It All

8. Lay All Your Love On Me

9. Mamma Mia

10. Angel Eyes

The classic Dancing Queen is over-played and doesn't make my top 10 but would be in the next 5 maybe.

Some interesting choices in there, especially rating the B side of Dancing Queen higher than the A side :) Great seeing some great album tracks amongst great singles

I'm afraid I still prefer the Erasure version even now - I am very much aware that I'll be alone in that view though!

And YAY it's not often I get called a youngster!!!

I think the version you hear of a song first is more often than not the fave version - I'm the same, it's rare that versions of songs I love that I hear afterwards are loved even more....

Ah, we have the same No.1 and No.3!

Knowing Me Knowing You is faultless as far as I'm concerned. There's nothing you could add to it or remove to improve it.

Why Eagle was never a UK single is beyond me. As much as I love Summer Night City (which would be in the low teens in my fave Abba list), I think Eagle would have been a much bigger UK hit if they released that in its place.

Dancing Queen would have been in my Top 10 once upon a time, but over familiarity and overplay has pushed it down. Still a classic though obviously.

Thanks AH, agree completely about KMKY, a perfect creation even if Alan Partridge did his bit to try and kill its pure class  Also your other comments are all true too - I could do with not hearing DQ for a few years just to get it sounding fresh again and in a straight choice say, between hearing DQ or If It wasn't For The Nights (much lower in my chart) I'd opt for the latter much as I still love the former... :)

Thanks Alex, glad you love I'm A Marionette  If you add your list and my list together with points 100 to 1... Knowing Me Knowing You wins, and When All Is Said And Done at 2, and then it gets complicated and Ive no idea what the other placings would be as the charts are fairly different  Great to see Kisses Of Fire so high too

9. CHIQUITITA - ABBA (1979 single)

A video that never got aired at the time, that I recall at any rate, and a single with band profits donated to UNICEF, and featured on a special UNICEF album which I have, as well as Voulez-Vous single 2. The theme and mood suited the charity perfectly, but the song got criticised for being like Fernando. It's nothing like Fernando. They both have Mediterranean name titles, and that's about it. Hey ho. Touching, and a great melody, and the extended instrumental is so good that it appeals to the odd non-Abba fans as a little riff on it's own.

My favourite ABBA song. It has grown on me over time... when I first heard it I didn't take much notice. But slowly and steadily it has risen in my affections to the point I play it more than any other song at the moment. Truly stunning.

I agree :) I think it ages well, as it was never really "of it's time" when it came out, so it hasn't really dated, and the circus-style outro is also timeless
