I know many people think they were formed in 1995 and their first hit was Common People, but anyone with half a brain knows Pulp were around long before that.

So, what's your favourite Pulp period?

I'm going for 91-94 for those excellent singles My Legendary Girlfriend, Razzmatazz, Lipgloss and Babies not once, but twice. Been listening to "Intro" for the past couple of days and I'm gonna stick on "His n Hers" soon now too.

I thought I was the only proper Pulp fan here! :o

I was a huge fan in the 90s, His N Hers is one of my favourite albums of all time. I think their best period is 92-94, I love Do you remember the first time?, The Sisters EP (Your Sisiters Clothes is fantastic) and The B side to Lipgloss, Streetlites!

OU is an excellent track too, and Razmatazz!

Woo Hoo! Another Pulp fan!

Yay. OU is great innit? My favourite track not from that period is "Fairground" off "Freaks"...the cat with 2 heads and the dog with 8 legs...and the bit where they go for a ride.

Ridiculous stuff and all delivered with Russell's yawrkshire drawl :)

I used to have Freaks! Do you like Dogs are Everywhere? That song is so clever and funny! It was a B Side to Common People as an acoustic! My Legendary Girlfriend is another choon!

I would say in terms of success, 95/96 with the Different Class album. Great album too.

hard to give thoughts on their career as i only really know the later and more poppy stuff. however found an album in the 2nd had shop that had the song that had something like 'shes got a hole in her heart and a big one between her legs, and your gonna fill one of them, i know which one' something like that. thought that was a good funny lyric

Cockers lyrics are very clever, showcased on His N Hers and Different Class to great effect. Joyriders is a good example (Rhyming Jesus Sandals with Vandals!!!) and on Mis-shapes - all the words in that song struck a chord with me at the time.

Hey - where did my post go? Ah well, was just to say that the song lyrics you quoted are from Little Girl (With Blue Eyes) which was a single and featured on both the Countdown and Masters of the Universe compilations. :)

'Common People' is one of my 60 favourite songs ever! :o

I was a bit too young then but I got into them and I have their 'different class' album lurking around somewhere.

did anyone see that interview with (onetime pulp producer) scott walker on the culture show and his new tunes? what way out there music very much in a category of it's own

I'd go along with that as well... Earlier, stranger, material was also pretty bloody good though.... "This Is Hardcore" was massively disappointing.... -_-

i think "this is hardcore" is an excellent album with the best pulp song ever ("this is hardcore").maybe a little bit different but i love the dark beauty of it.

bte , "seperations" is also a pulp classic with some of their bgest tunes like the incredible "death II" n well, all the other tracks...

u know,i love pulp.
