I thought this was going to do better than Poppin as I saw some hype on Twitter on Thursday evening but I wasn’t expecting a #6 debut on Spotify. I haven’t heard it yet but the featured artists seem a bit more inspired this time.

 

 

With the video being released at the same time as the song, I think this could now become his 2nd top 10 single this week.

This indeed became his 2nd top 10 hit this week. In fact, it is now his highest ever chart peak at #6.

 

I heard it for the first time today and it's much better than I was expecting. KSI is a naff rapper but I think it suits this style of song rather than the more Americanised ones he's done in the past. Friends With Benefits remains a low key bop though.

He's also confirmed that this is from his upcoming debut album 'Dissimulation' set to be released on the 22nd of this month. The only previously unreleased features come from Jeremih, Aiyana-Lee & Offset.

To his credit his rapping on this and 'Poppin' was much, much better than it was on the two singles before that. But then unfortunately the features have been less compelling than Rick Ross and Trippie Redd. This song is fine but it just sounds like any old UK rap hit. I honestly think I would have been really into 'Wake Up Call' if KSI's own contribution to it wasn't as awful as it was!

Certainly a better start on Spotify than I was expecting. Maybe he can get have 2 simultaneous top 10 singles next week.

He's already dropped the deluxe version of the album in what must be record time adding 3 new songs: "Complicated", Tides (feat. AJ Tracey & Rich The Kid)" and "Night To Remember (feat. Randolph & S-X).

 

He also said he's going to go bald if he gets the #1 album and is pretending to tell everyone to stream the Agust D & The 1975 albums so he doesn't have to.

The album enters at #2 and Cap & Killa Killa enter at #24 and #27 respectively.

 

I haven't heard the album but the general reception I've heard from those who have is that it's much better than you'd expect so fair play to him. It's certainly been a huge success for a YouTuber anyway.

KSI will be dropping another single this month. Judging by his latest post, it seems like it's going to feature Jaykae.
