To be fair, her shaving her hair and dyeing it blond wasn’t the reason why she had a underperforming era in 2017... Chained To The Rhythm probably would’ve have performed better if not for Ed Sheeran (occupying the top 2 for a long time plus then the album release shoved a lot of tracks way down the chart to the point some couldn’t fully recover). Lorde’s Green Light also suffered because of that. Chart circumstances didn’t play in Katy’s favour in 2017 plus additionally Bon Appetit was a huge misfire as a second single :lol: Feels half-redeemed the era but then Swish Swish was chosen - a good song, I really liked it at the time, but not a good single choice following Bon Appetit.

 

Never Really Over didn’t have much of an excuse though tbh it did deserve to be a huge Teenage Dream era type smash but it did do a decent job chart wise
