Pete's Chart Commentary

No change at the top, although once again it was incredibly close between the Top 3, most notably Jack Garratt who has puched a hole in my Top 5 this week. We also get a new entry from CoCo and the Butterfields with their NHS charity single. A few other new entries this week , although the quality of the Top 40 is so good now that it's difficult to debut anywhere unless I absolutely love the song.

 

Lower down the chart we have the anomaly of two Galantis songs being the song at #100 in consecutive weeks, although it does probably signal the end for The Lake sadly. edit: it no longer is thanks to a very last-minute inconspicuous change :P

Hi Pete! Great week overall! It happens on some weeks when you couldn't find a song that deserves to be no. 1, and then on some weeks you are queuing songs for taking the no. 1 spot! Need to have a listen to Better -- Jack Garratt is a great artist! Also surprised to see a song from the Ivory Coast!

Better is brill - really different from Jack's other stuff but in a good way. And by "a song from the Ivory Coast" do you mean Hawa Boussim, who is from Burkina Faso? :P Thanks Jack!

This is the first San Cisco song I've heard actually - I'm loving it! Orbit was definitely one of my favourites from the contest, a great choice - thanks Jupiter :D

Yesssss go Declan! Such a tune, I'm gutted his album has been delayed, only to be expected though I guess. It should climb into my Top 10 next week too :D

 

Both Kygo songs are great, I wish he was still getting hits but it's always good to have new music from him regardless. I know he's a bit formulaic and even slightly dated now but the songs are still great!

 

Glass Animals Top 5 is also great to see :)

Fratellis having a fab run in your top 10 (quite right too) :D Kygo going top 20, yay, and some new entries from acts I like (but haven't heard properly yet). Shame about The Lake dropping out, but at least you charted it - I seem to be alone in my love, so that may mean a future Singerpurear BJSC entry down the line when the current chart mood changes :lol:

 

Of Monsters & Men never quite broke through as a bigger track, which is a shame, Sia is a decent track entering, and quite a few goodies sprinkled around dropping :)

Hey Pete - great to see Razorlight enter, 'Burn Camden Burn' is literally my favourite thing they've released for ages! It isn't surprising though given that it was recorded in 2008 which is around the time they were at their peak :)

 

I listened to the (leaked version of) the new Fratellis album earlier, it's got some great tracks on it!

 

Let's hope we do get Declan's album this year, it's the one I'm most looking forward to :D Thanks Mango!

I think it's been pushed back from May to August but it should definitely come this year :D

Hi Pete! Galantis at no. 100 for 2 consecutive weeks lol. Not sure about their collaboration with Wrabel -- feel like something is missing or maybe their Never Felt a Love Like This and especially Hurricane are pretty good so it kinda got instantly compared lol. SeeB also surprised me with Unfamiliar -- surprisingly good for me as I usually overlook SeeB.
