I watched this afternoon.

So pleased it’s leaked.

Why was this filmed and not released officially ?

Mel B solo was something !!

Still can’t get into this version of too much .

This is just the footage from the screens at the gig, it is not professionally filmed for release

It’s different from the footage release tho isn’t it that has been on YouTube for years ?

For me, watching it in this quality gave it a new appreciation. It feels and looks much better watching it this way. Even Too Much sounded good here. The solos and that shitty celebration medley can choke though. And they did LLLTW dirty!! That song deserved better (though Bunton's big note saves it!)

Vocally, it was strong. Mel C and Emma shoulder the vocals (as usual), and Mel B yet again owns that stage (and also has great vocals). Geri and Victoria are cute, they definitely hold their own.

Funny also that it's clear now where they mimed. Victoria's verse in Viva Forever sounds totally mimed. I never noticed that... I don't think it was mimed everywhere right? In some of the fan footage out there, it sounds like it could be live in some cities...

Holler BANGS! They ate that stage with it. Imagine a full Forever Tour :w00t: Vocally it was really strong and all gave it a good go!

Viva Forever  Still one of their best ever performances. Definitely the best of that song ever. Emma OWNS that breakdown and Mel C sounds heavenly.

2 Become 1 was AWESOME too.

Mama, a song that I never really care for, really came alive here and I found myself enjoying it. For me, their best ever of that song (and a perfect opportunity to retire the song lol go on a high etc).

Goodbye is so good as well. What a TUNE. The glow on stage from their energy matched with the visuals of the butterflies was a pure MOMENT!

Headlines still isn't amazing. It came alive here, yes, but generally it is quite the meagre track. And also they don't really sound like a group in it. Their vocals usally compliment each others really well and makes tehir sound unique, but on this particular song they sound disjointed. The outro saves it. I would have had Emma and Mel B doing Victoria's ad libs on the second chorus. Victoria cant carry it at all alone. Also, notice that Emma sings most of the song? She backs Geri and Victoria in their solos too

If You Can't Dance was ROBBED though. It's cute but the song deserved better. I like the staging though. It looks better in this quality whilst before it didnt really came alive at all in lower quality.

Wannabe was GOOD. Super simple and effective. They did it better last year though!

And I have a new appreciation for the Reprise of Spice Up Your Life. The staging, I think, is great! Maybe more of a cohesive mix would have been nice. But I think I would have still prefer them to finish with Never Give Up On the Good Times! That track was MISSED!!!

It's a shame that Who Do You Think YOu Are was completely mimed. The staging was excellent though!

Overall, a good show. Nothing groundbreaking apart from Holler, Viva Forever, 2 Become 1 and Goodbye in my opinion. But incredibly enjoyable to re-live, now in greater quality of video and sound!!

WHAT A GREAT DAY TO BE A SPICE FAN :funky: :yahoo: :cheer:

I wholeheartedly agree with every thing you said Mr X .

I don't think Goodbye was groundbreaking... it was a little bit boring tbh...

The celebration medley just irritates the hell out of me it can gtfo, and Mel B's solo is naff. There's too much standing around during Goodbye, Headlines, Let love lead the way, Mama... I can see why Too much was jazzed up the girls have too many ballads and they didn't do the uptempo album tracks to level it out. The music is amazing though and the rest of the show is fab

1. Spice up your life

2. Stop

3. Say you'll be there

4. Headlines

5. The lady is a vamp

6. Too much

7. 2 become 1

8. Who do you think you are

9. Let your head go (actually sing a song)

10. I want you back (with a filmed screens bit from Missy Elliot)

11. Maybe

12. Viva forver

13. Holler

14. It's raining men

15. I turn to you

16. Let love lead the way

17. Mama

18. Love thing / Step to me / Move over / If you wanna have some fun [medley]

19. Goodbye

Encore

20. If you can't dance [FULL SONG]

21. Never give up on the good times

22. Wannabe

23. Spice up your life [reprise]

That should have been the setlist! It's pretty much spot on just needs a few tweaks.

Here's what I would have done:

1. Spice up your life

2. Stop

3. Say you'll be there

4. Something Kinda Funny

5. The lady is a vamp

6. Too much

7. 2 become 1

8. Who do you think you are

9. Let your head go / I Want You Back / Maybe / It's Raining Men / I Turn To You Megamix

10. Viva forver

11. Holler

12. If You Wanna Have Some Fun

13. Love Thing

14. Let love lead the way

15. Mama

16. Step to me / Move over

17. Naked

18. Goodbye

19. Headlines (outro only)

Encore

20. If you can't dance [FULL SONG]

21. Wannabe

22. Never give up on the good times

Ending on a massive dance banger, on a Madonna scale (it was her Tour Director anyway!!)

I'm not sure if it's because of what we know now but I found the show incredibly cold and quite depressing (Viva Forever & 2 Become 1 aside!) in parts. Thank god for SW19!

OMG YES I prefer yours

I stuck closely to the original setlist because let's face it they were never giving up their solo moments at that point in time... I prefer your idea of it being a mega mix though

I loved the Spice up your life reprise ending though, it was so different and not what I was expecting at all so I wouldn't change that

The girls didn’t do much choreography themselves on this tour .

Mel C please not that fringe again !!

I didn't mind the solos I felt it gave the casual fans who didn't follow them individually a little taste of them after the group.

As a fan of much of their solo music I appreciated it.

I think my main issue with the solos is that they felt so forced. Victoria's is just a laugh but totally pointless. Mel B's was completely cringe and unecessary. Emma's was ok but a bit flat on energy, Geri's was stiff and Mel C's was the only bit that felt like it fitted in wth the rest of the show.

It could have been a medley and I think that would have worked much better!

This is by far my least favourite tour. If we are honest the solos were shit and a way too long piss break.

The celebration medley was bad.

The outfits were hideous.

The only thing it had going for it over the other tours was it had all 5.

I personally always thought that Spiceworld 98 was their worst tour as it felt very unexperienced an dnot great staging from the videos I have seen.

But the Return has a lot of amazing moments too that, I believe, lift the show from being completely cold and uninspired. Viva Forever and Holler are SMASHING and I really like a lot of other group performances.

I agree that teh solos and teh celebration medley were BAD and the costumes quite lame too. But it is what it is. It was a BIG production for a tour of that size and it kind of shows, and I do like some of the more dramatic elements.

Still, overall, their second worst tour!

Here is what I would put them as:

1. Istanbul

2. Spiceworld '19

3. Christmas in Spiceworld (purely because vocally they were good apart from Mel C, but also the set list has some GREAT moments)

4. Return

5. Spiceworld 98

^ Spiceworld 98 last ! You must be crazy !!!

1. Spiceworld 98 (saw it live and the dvd / vhs is great)

2. Spiceworld 19 (saw it live , slight issue with sound for me)

3. Return (saw it live, was better when in audience)

4. Instanbul

5. Xmas

I'm

Xmas in SW

TROTSG

Even the name of the return tour is awful. When they had song titles like NGUOTGT, Viva Forever, Say you'll be there and new Greatest Hits they came up with that name for it.

I wasn't fond of this tour to begin with. It felt ungenuine from the beginning, just something Simon and Victoria were using to set up her career after moving to the US. No wonder it's cold, lifeless, no heart and soul in that. Time has healed me a bit, after watching it properly it wasn't that bad lol, great concept and production but still cold anyway. I like Holler, It's Raining Men and I Turn To You Combo a lot. That's a great fun haha. Goodbye, 2B1, Viva Forever were beautiful. The first three opening songs were great too, The Lady Is A Vamp and Too much were fine but overall the intro takes the cake. Still it just goes to show that the Power of Spice is much more powerful than the Power of Five but if you put them both together you'll get a nuclear bomb. Thank you for the footages guys. Love my girls forever.
When I drag on TROTSG tour it is still a great show and tour compared to 95% of other artists.
Does anyone have any great ROTSGT covers for iTunes?
I loved this tour! I love that it was all 5 of them and they each had their own solo moment.
