Top 100 for the 16th May 2020

 

Pete's Chart Commentary

The final week before Eurovision-mania comes and completely ravages my chart, and it really is the calm before the storm. The top end of the chart is relatively unchanged, although two songs do creep into the Top 10 - my most recent BJSC finalist/flop (delete as necessary) and a Kygo song I really didn't expect to like and probably won't in a couple of months. But it's good for now so into the Top 10 it goes.

 

A few more indie and dance songs make my Top 40, including Gorillaz who shoot up after spending a few relatively non-eventful weeks in the lower end of the chart. And looking at the number of new entries we're getting it will probably be back at the lower end of the chart next week as well.

Thanks Sergej! I Like It When You Love me is probably my third favourite of the Home Tapes and sadly probably won't make the Top 40 now but still a nice track.

nice to see Kygo rise into the top 20 although it's had a rather poor chart run for me, starting off at #10 but now only a few weeks later down to #80. :lol:

Unfamiliar and For a Feeling are my faves from your new arrivals.

Fratellis having a fab run in your top 10 (quite right too) :D Kygo going top 20, yay, and some new entries from acts I like (but haven't heard properly yet). Shame about The Lake dropping out, but at least you charted it - I seem to be alone in my love, so that may mean a future Singerpurear BJSC entry down the line when the current chart mood changes :lol:

 

Of Monsters & Men never quite broke through as a bigger track, which is a shame, Sia is a decent track entering, and quite a few goodies sprinkled around dropping :)

I love Don't Let Me Down, such an inspired collaboration! Love To Go is completely different from Crazy oops, think Nico and Vinz on a dance song and you've probably got the sound. Thanks Dexton!

 

Hey Pete - great to see Razorlight enter, 'Burn Camden Burn' is literally my favourite thing they've released for ages! It isn't surprising though given that it was recorded in 2008 which is around the time they were at their peak :)

 

I listened to the (leaked version of) the new Fratellis album earlier, it's got some great tracks on it!

I think it's been pushed back from May to August but it should definitely come this year :D

Ahh is the Razorlight one another old recording? It doesn't surprise me though, it does definitely have a sound of that time.

 

Hi Pete! Galantis at no. 100 for 2 consecutive weeks lol. Not sure about their collaboration with Wrabel -- feel like something is missing or maybe their Never Felt a Love Like This and especially Hurricane are pretty good so it kinda got instantly compared lol. SeeB also surprised me with Unfamiliar -- surprisingly good for me as I usually overlook SeeB.

Haha at the ravaging Eurovision chart - that's what's happened to me this week! Full-on assault it's been, had to extend to 100 to cope! :lol:

 

Nice to see saint Motel stuff still flying high, I also like the Kygo track against expectations, Underdog having a massive run there (it was quick in and out my chart after a few weeks, oops!), Sia climbing and Fratellis in with PP :yahoo:
