Even that's debatable tbh. None of the Joanne singles were playlisted after Perfect Illusion which never progressed above the C-list (although they did later surprise us by B-listing The Cure). Her R1 days are definitely numbered.

The clown came to bite. Try to understand that Lady Gaga will continue to be played on the radio 30 years from now, she was born to win.

Is there an archive for the Radio 1 playlists that dates back before the one in the OP (which starts in 2015)?

No but you can perform a search to retrieve playlists going back to 2006.

I've just checked and I was right, the last Gaga single to go straight to A-list was 'The Edge Of Glory' - it was playlisted jointly with 'Judas' which was already on the A-list. 'Judas' itself went straight to B-list, as did 'Born This Way' before that. I haven't checked The Fame Monster era though.

To be fair, her days on the R1 playlist did seem to be numbered at that time, so it's impressive that she's managed to turn that around. I think you need to calm down a bit though, no one said she wouldn't be played on the radio 30 years from now lol

I know Rain On Me isn’t even out yet but I’m wondering if Lady Gaga will release any post album singles? I think the Blackpink and Elton John features will definitely do well on streaming.

Third time this year (after Mac Miller's 'Blue World' and Disclosure's 'Tondo') that Radio 1 have belatedly and somewhat unexpectedly playlisted a song that got to #1 in my personal chart! (Well it was the French version of the Christine song that I charted but close enough). It's my 4th 2020 #1 hit that R1 have playlisted in all but the other one is 'The Box' which wasn't quite as unexpected obvz ~

The other adds this week (pending judgement on Gaga/Ari ofc) are mostly all decent songs, that Jonas Brothers song is pretty awful though, could do without that becoming a hit pls.

Stay pressed. :kink:

OT: Y'all betta stream & buy 'Rain On Me' on May 22! :winner:

Shame you forgot 'The Cure' in the straight-to-C-list section. And 'Telephone' too.

Also you use the term “fully supported” as though songs that debut on C and B list don’t matter? Most of her songs move up and get several weeks of plays? Calm yo’self x
True but I doubt it would have been instantly put on the A-List sans the Ariana feature.

Well, everybody knows that.

I’m guessing they’ll be playing the new Doja Cat remix of In Your Eyes then? Considering it came out a few hours ago. She sounds lush on it btw.

The term is correct, Rain On Me will be fully supported, as it's the first Gaga song to make its direct debut on BBC Radio 1's A-List playlist in all 12 years of her career (teog doesn't count because it shared plays with Judas), so what's the problem with using the correct term, does it hit you in any way? Chile.

If you wanted a complete and flawless list, why didn't you make your own?

Get it GaGa! Good to see Georgia getting support as well, 24 Hours is my favourite album track on the album so good choice for the next single.

Other than that, this list just shows how out of touch I am with current music. I don't think I have heard any of the songs on the B-list!

Yay amazing to see Gariana A-listed straight away!

Happy to see Katy C-listed too :)

So much bitchiness in a R1 playlist thread  not even going to respond!

Wow, that's a pretty good move by his team, let's hope she can make the song take off :D
