Glad to see this is still top 100!

If it stays there next week it’ll match what Joanne did in the UK in terms of top 100 weeks. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽

And to think there was a forum member calling out Future Nostalgia for low sales yet here we are :poot:

I don't think it's necessary to explain that Chromatica's second (and probably last) official single was released in May, while Future Nostalgia is already on its fourth single, which even had 2 remixes, one with a living legend and a viral DJ and another this month with the hottest rapper in the US game right now.

Not to mention that Future Nostalgia had an entire remix album that was released this year. Also, the Chromatica era had only one performance during the whole era (literally), while Dua has performed like 30 times during the Future Nostalgia era since 2019. Not to mention that Dua was denounced by Rolling Stone in the payola scandal of US radio as one of the artists who pays to be played on the radio, while Gaga isn't on the list.

Not to mention that Gaga literally dropped Chromatica and then disappeared from the map for 3 months, reappearing only to promote it at the VMAs. It's also worth saying that she boycotted her own album, not promoting it on the release week, supporting BLM protests (she was literally the only artist with new stuff out to close her own store, while 80% of the other artists continued to sell their junk without giving a shit).

You can be sure that if Chromatica had at least half the promotion that Future Nostalgia had and still has things would be totally different. ^_^

Future Nostalgia is clearly the more popular album by a mile, there's no need to be so butthurt over it~

This is personal opinion, the facts are totally different. ^_^

Are you joking? Chromatica is bigger than Future Nostalgia? In what world? La La land?

I believe the only joke here is that you pretend you don't know the numerous reasons why Future Nostalgia sold (miserably) more than Chromatica and this source (made by a Madonna fan) isn't even official.

But if you've forgotten these reasons, I wrote to you up there, read it again. ^_^

I would pull out the chart runs both sides of the Atlantic to prove you wrong, but that’d be more effort than I can be bothered x

Just because Future Nostalgia did better doesn’t been Chromatic did bad. Both were successful, one more than the other.

Pop star labels have been paying radio for years, it's never been brand new information. Rolling Stone is desperate for clicks, recently made their articles registration only.

The 30 Dua performances you speak of were for Don't Start Now in 2019, months before the album release. Like with most artists releasing during the start of the pandemic, promotion was either nada or from your living room!

Both albums are successful in their own right, and I'd rather not have another pitting of successful women against each other, not in 2020.

And you can be sure that I would fight back, proving why Dua did better on the chart$ (I think you know but pretend not to know).

But can you guess who started this and who initially put woman against woman? Don't be a hypocrite and start using this move now cuz i got u.

You can come up with whatever methodology you like girl x

Payola doesn’t hurt. But if you’re trying to say the success of Don’t Start Now (for ONE) is all payola then you’re just acting a fool, it connected with the public in a way Gaga’s singles didn’t. And that’s not to say they did badly, just the public connected with Dua more this era. No amount of Payola or promo can make a song stay in the UK top 10 for 25 weeks or whatever. Dua only released one more song prior to her album than Gaga, so any streaming advantage was negligible.

As said already, both are very successful albums and we don’t need to be offended at one doing better than the other.

What are you on about? How is that pitting Gaga against Dua? It was in response to you dragging Dua's sales for no reason, but there you have it, the 3rd most successful of the year so far among female artists, what a tragic feat!!

"Rolling Stone is desperate for clicks"

What? This argument doesn't belie the facts, RS is a respected magazine and would never lie about something in which it can be sued. If no artist mentioned in the article has spoken about it, it's because they know that nothing in the article is a lie. Everybody knows that Dua pays to be played on the radio, unlike Gaga.

I don't care, facts are facts and the Chromatica era didn't have half the budget and promotion that the Future Nostalgia era had, and I can prove it if you want (even if you already know and are playing the fool, with the argument that "both albums are successful").

I don't buy this sh*t.

But they were both successful? :sarah: Two #1 albums that have gone gold in 2020. One is just more successful and had more staying power. Ed Sheeran’s + was more successful than Taylor’s 1989, but they were both huge successes. Two albums by women doing well aren’t mutually exclusive x

I feel this is going round in circles so imma pull out there

First of all, the fact that I commented on Dua getting the #1 album in the UK with the lowest sales of all time has NOTHING to do with this topic and I haven't commented about it here.

You went off-topic by bringing a subject from months ago that has nothing to do with this topic just to generate flamebait, so that's why I'm reporting you.

Ed Sheeran’s + was more successful than Taylor’s 1989, but they were both huge successes

Yes, both are successful albums, I haven't denied that, but that doesn't change the fact that Dua promoted 10x more her album than Gaga promoted hers, so discussing the sales of both albums is not fair, because the budgets and investments of the 2 albums were completely different. Dua had enough time before the pandemic to promote her album, especially the lead single DSN, which was performed in every corner of the world, while Stupid Love had its first and only performance only 3 MONTHS after its release, in the middle of a pandemic, in a performance adapted to ensure the health of all involved. Also, Don't Start Now spent almost 9 MONTHS on TTH — that's literally a complete human gestation period — while Stupid Love only spent 2 months on it and on and on... Not comparable at all.

I think you referred to x album instead of +, and about "x is bigger than 1989" I have my doubts. 1989 sold twice as much as x sold in the US, the largest market in the world... Worldwide I believe they are on the same level, even if the x has sold triple what 1989 sold in the UK, so in the end 1989 has the lead.
