Pete's Chart Commentary

Another new #1 here, in the shape of CoCo and the Butterfields' self-isolation anthem, a beautiful song and the longest song to reach #1 in my chart in quite a while as it's a whopping 5 minutes long.Below that there's not much happening - the Eurovision songs continue to fall and there's not much there to replace them so the chart is beginning to look more like it did a couple of weeks ago. X Lovers crack the Top 40 with their new entry, the only song to do so, however Grouplove finally creep in after 3 months of yoyo-ing arouond the bottom section of my chart. Oh, and all of last week's new entries have fallen out.

Hi Pete! Great to see Love You Sober and Burn Down This Room rising up the chart and A Good Song Never Dies holding strong still at top 10. Sad to see Young Boy out of the top 100 so quickly :(

 

EDIT: I agree with you about the timing of the chorus. Young Boy is lacking a bridge and a third chorus for me and this prevents it from reaching further up in my chart. I don't think the omission of a bridge and a third chorus pays off as it feels incomplete.

Great to see the Eurovision tracks holding on strong - particularly 'On Fire' retaining its position at the top! It's a shame that didn't get to be unleashed, I'm sure the dance routine would've been a talking point for sure :lol: elsewhere, I'm really liking the new entry for 'House Arrest', Sofi Tukker and Gorgon City rarely disappoint!

Glad you're a fan of these - On Fire has fallen to #3 this week but definitely one of my favourite Eurovision entries in a long time. House Arrest is such a brilliant tune as well, the build-up really is special. Thanks Jade!

Hi Pete! Love to see Burn Down This Room and Love You Sober entering the top 40! Not a lot of entries here but Young Boy is a great entry! It is very catchy and uplifting with the guitars, just like Smith & Thell's Goliath. I think this song will be quite popular within our circle pretty soon!

I don't know what to think about Young Boy, it's something I really should like but there's something about the timing of the chorus that doesn't sit right with me. It's still a good song thoguh otherwise it wouldn't have entered my chart. Thanks Jack!

Six weeks in the Top 2 for Declan is great to see :D (and 'Beautiful Faces' getting its 18th week in the Top 20 too :o)

 

Elsewhere I'm liking the longevity for Glass Animals but have you heard their new one? Check it out, it's a lovely song.

 

Hope Twenty One Pilots can keep climbing and make the Top 20, it's a big return to form for them after the disappointing last era.

House Arrest is rather good, it's around the bottom end of my chart at the moment but did well to only drop 91-98 with 24 entries above it.
