Been really into the "single" (?) 'Infinite Future', as highlighted the other week by Lewis in the 'music to chill to' thread, from this new Daniel Avery album and decided to check out the rest of the album as he dropped some pretty visuals for all of the other songs on it ~ (epilepsy warning for a few of these)

Largely pretty lowkey ambient techno stuff but there are a few more energetic moments, particularly 'Searing Light, Forward Motion' which kind of sounds like it's on the wrong album as it totally spits in the face of the relaxing vibes of the rest of it  but it is one of my favourite songs on there. Other highlights for me are 'One More Morning' (maybe challenging 'Infinite Future' for my overall favourite song on here, has a lovely ~floatiness~ to it), 'Dream Distortion', 'Dusting For Smoke' and 'Into The Arms Of Stillness'. All worth a listen though. x

New single from Daniel Avery featuring Cecile Believe “Rapture In Blue”. Heard this on 6Music last night, really like it. Cecile definitely should be much bigger than she is, such a talent.

  • Just seen the track list for the accompanying album Tremor and the feature list is stacked! The aforementioned Cecile Believe plus bdrmm, yunè pinku, Alison Mosshart, Julie Dawson (of NewDad), Walter

Definitely here for more of this type of music on the forum  I’m yet to listen to the album but Infinite Future is fantastic

Listening to this now and this is just fantastic.

Infinite Future is an absolute highlight and I just loved how Dusting For Smoke switched production half way through to some bonkers rave thing

There’s some wonderful chillout in the form of A Story In E5 and Into The Arms Of Stillness

Dusting For Smoke has now been released as the next single with a new B-side which is a tribute to Andrew Weatherall.

I meant to post this in here the other week but forgot to oops - 'Lonely Swordsman' is another wonderful song on par with some of the highlights of the album  a nice surprise to get another new song from him.

Petrol Blue was released as a B-side to Into The Arms Of Stillness recently

"I wanted to make something that would sit next to Lone Swordsman in the world of Love + Light. Petrol Blue was written in a studio at the very edge of the country. The views across the water without a single sight on the horizon always create a certain atmosphere in my mind, some kind of unknowing warmth. Real life seems pretty distant in those moments. The track came about quickly, in the space of a few hours, and filled the room immediately. It’s named after my own little space down by the water that continues to be its own escape and a constant source of creativity. I owe my life to that metal box right now. Also included here is an alternative version of Into The Arms Of Stillness, the Voice recounting the joy of when that first strobe light enters your soul. We’ll be back to that place before we know it.

Petrol Blue will be out on vinyl in January, on the flip of the Lone Swordsman 12”. The response has been overwhelming, thank you for all the support. There are just a handful of copies left, with all proceeds going to Amnesty International in memory of our friend Andrew Weatherall xx" – Daniel Avery

Loving it once again <3 we are spoiled with these extra songs.

He also dropped a new version of 'Into The Arms Of Stillness' (titled 'Into The Voice Of Stillness'), just adds some spoken word vocals to the start of the song, nothing too special really, think I prefer it as an instrumental.

Giving this thread an overdue bump (have turned it into a general artist thread) as he has another new album called 'Together In Static' out on Thursday, he's dropped two singles over the past couple of months which have both kept up his consistent hit rate for me, both really lovely stuff:

Was not expecting yet another album from him so soon (it'll be his third in the span of just 15 months including a collaborative album with Alessandro Cortini), looking forward to it! when I listen to it like 2-3 weeks after it drops as per my recent standard

I’m liking Endless Hours too. Hazel and Good isn’t bad but I feel like I’ve heard it a dozen times before from similar artists.
Endless Hours stomps  Hazel and Gold is nice too, could grow on me so I'm not writing it off just yet. Looking forward to the album!

I did prefer 'Endless Hours' out of the two as well but didn't think there was that big of a difference between them, both made the top 20 in my personal chart!

(though I will say that both of them aren't quite as good as 'Lone Swordsman' and especially 'Petrol Blue' just looking at his post-Love + Light output)

Back on cue 3 weeks after the album dropped for my thoughts on it x

I think this album overall is a bit of a step down from 'Love + Light' as there aren't really any tracks that touch my biggest highlights from that album, but it does have fewer misses as well (in fairness it is a shorter album). 'Crystal Eyes' was a slow start to the album as a fairly middling ambient track that didn't do a lot for me but I did enjoy pretty much every song after that, 'Yesterday Faded' stands out as a pretty clear favourite from the album tracks and maybe challenging 'Endless Hours' for my favourite track on the album overall (probably not coincidental that those are the two 'darkest' sounding songs on the album), then also thought 'A Life That Is Your Own' and 'Midnight Sun' were highlights as well.

3 big hitters in the Alt. Dance music scene have come together, Daniel Avery, Kelly Lee Owens and HAAi to release Chaos Energy today.

Oh wow what a combination there!! (I saw the video popping up on my YouTube notifications but didn't know Kelly and HAAi were on it since they aren't mentioned in the video title for some reason).

He has another new album called 'Ultra Truth' out on 4th November (who does he think he is announcing it this far in advance x). In the mean time he's also dropped a couple more remixes for Enfant Sauvage and Julien Bracht over the past few months and they're both amazing as well, 3 for 3 on his random remix drops this year following the bdrmm one posted above x

:music:

Album tracklist:

1. New Faith

2. Ultra Truth

3. Wall Of Sleep (with HAAi)

4. The Slow Bullet

10. Ache (with A.K. Paul)

11. Collapsing Sky

2/2 for me.

I prefer Chaos Energy (what a SONG and SOTY contender). Kelly's vocal layering on that at the end is just pure euphoria, but Bliss is a great more upbeat song in its own right too despite it being promoted as a B-side.
