Chart Arithmetic

Firstly, establish the UK chart peaks of the following six singles.

Then either add, multiply or subtract each chart position in order.

The number you're left with is the current UK chart position for the 7th act.

Finally there is a common connection between those seven acts..what is it ??

ANASTACIA - Left outside alone

+

BASEMENT JAXX - Rendez-vu

+

COLDPLAY - Speed of sound

x

EMBRACE - Natures Law

-

FAITHLESS - We come 1

-

GREEN DAY - American Idiot

=

This weeks UK Chart position # ?? which is by _______ ____

The common link between all seven acts is ???

(It's pure coincidence that the acts run alphabetically)

The link is that they are all the artists highest charting singles (joint highest charting in some cases).

The maths: 3+ 4 + 2 = 9 x2 = 18 - 3 - 3 = 12 Edited to show Green days position as 3 not 2!!

And thats all from memory!

No, no no, 15 -3 = 12

#12 is this weeks position for Depeche Mode - Suffer Well. Hence my first comment.

Depeche Mode have had two #4 singles and neither are the current one :D

That not the point though, as all JC asked what was the current number 12 then? It dosent have tio be THEIR higest entry!

The final bit is

The common link between all seven acts is ???

Seven not Six

I suspect it's more likely it's that not one has had a #1 single but they have all had #1 albums.

Perhaps the link is that all the artists have never had a #1?

Yep,that is the correct answer ! Well done E-mo for getting the answer in so early. :cheer:

Well done to Jester though for doing the maths in finding Depeche Mode as the missing 7th act.

Not all the acts concerned have managed a UK #1 album though. ;)

Well,I spose that's another connection all sevens acts have..a total oversight on my part..but again..purely coincidental. :P
