Debut album set for next year from London 7-piece Black Country, New Road - corona has delayed single plans but "Sunglasses" and "Athens, France" have been out for a while.

They did this amazing virtual festival performance the other day, including a cover of Weezer's "Say It Ain't So" - the hype in my indie circles has been massive and I'm dying for a new release from them  I think they can be at least Black Midi level with a Mercury nomination if they carry on like this.

AHHH debut album "For The First Time" is out on Jan 29th!!

Yes I saw the album is actually up for pre-order on 5th February 2021, much anticipated - “Sunglasses” was a big No. 1 on my personal chart in 2019 so it has been a LONG wait!

Here's the first single... “Science Fair”.

'Track X' came out yesterday!

Though it does mean there's only 2 new tracks on the album :( Though I presume they're long ones and IIRC "Athens, France" and "Sunglasses" are both newly-recorded versions.

Haven't got around to listening yet, but the new version of Sunglasses seems to be causing some division! Very excited for it all though  it's had fantastic reviews so I'd expect a Mercury nom this year

Oh has it? I've just listened to it - it's different, I think part of the way they play their live stuff is that the structures of the songs are set but there is room for some improvisation each time they play it. So this album version sounds a lot more desperate and without hope than the 2019 original, which probably plays to the fact that it was recorded at the start of this awful global pandemic.

Anyway, I still love it.

really unique and engaging album, been playing it quite a bit this week. the instrumentals on the opening and closing tracks, the unhinged delivery on Science Fair and Sunglasses it's all so good <3
