I believe I saw a link to the article on the GOTH.NET forums, if that's any help.

And I know that Fiction was an imprint, but if you don't put the likes of The Cure, Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo and the Bunnymen and others like them into the 'Indie' category, then where do they fit...?

Exactly...and where do the Teardrop Explodes fit? They were having top 10 / top 20 hits back in 1981.

I haven't ever really liked any of his solo stuff I've heard tbh. The Smiths were far better...

His solo stuff has been a bit patchy it has to be said, but there's more good than bad. "You Are The Quarry" and the new one are deffo on a par with anything he did for The Smiths....

The new album is pretty good, I heard that the other day. I only ever heard the singles off his last album. First of the Gang To Die and Irish Blood... were really good but I really didn't like I've Forgiven Jesus and the other one, I forget the name now...

Let Me Kiss You ;)

Ah, Let Me Kiss You was beautiful!

I'm loving Ringleader of the Tormentors more every listen.... Dear God Please Help Me, Life is a Pigsty and The Youngest was the Most Loved are 3 of the best songs Moz has ever written... and Ennio Morricone's work.... stunning.

however i suppose its hard to compare if you have to come to the Smiths backwards from Morrissey's recent solo stuff hard to put in persective when all you've got is q magazine specials and you dont know what it was like of the time

I love The Smiths... but i really cant stand Morrisey solo

dont know what it is... just gets on my t*ts really

How obsessed with Morrissey am I? I dont even know how to answer this. I screamed the lyrics to Panic in the middle of a restaurant when I was four years old (well, at least what I thought to be the lyrics). My room is basically a Moz shrine, its unhealthy, really.

Well it can only be a good thing :P He's one man who you could understand why people are obsessed with him as he did so much and influenced so many people. All my favourite bands now all say how much they were influenced by The Smiths and Morrissey :D

Welcome to Buzzjack btw :cheer:

I think I'm just a Smiths fan, not a Morrissey solo fan, although I really like some of his solo albuns. :)
