Perfect continues its reign despite the efforts of the OCC and now somehow has the 8th longest continuous chart run. Think it might’ve actually been top 40 this week without ACR (which would’ve been better than Dance Monkey)

Edited by Maestro

Confirmation that Declan would have broken the record for biggest fall from number one had he got there last week, which kinda makes me glad he didn't get the number one. I'm pretty surprised The Rolling Stones held up so well in their second week.

Once again it appears forces are conspiring to ensure The Vamps' record remains unbroken - although it's not quite as big a fall as the previous cases this is nonetheless the 4th time this year that a #2 debut has fallen further than #35 (nearly the 5th as Metallica went 2-32 - and I notice they're out of the top 100 entirely this week).

Curious that Disclosure's album is back ahead of Katy Perry's this week when they had swapped over in week 2, not complaining though, 4-30-47 is a slightly better run than I'd have probably predicted for 'ENERGY' after that debut week even though it's obviously still not great.

Not sure if Everything Everything will even get a second week in the top 100 this time around, their last album went 5-77-out - I only found out today that this was their first independent release though so that may explain the mysteriously reduced support from Radio 1 this era. Kind of puts a silver lining on the disappointing sales total as I would assume selling 4.9k independently is probably a good deal better for them financially than selling 8.6k on a label.

wonder if Doves could break the record, I'd expect a massive fall...
10 non-movers half of which is in the Top 10. What an exciting week :')

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but M1llionz seems to have had the YouTube streams of his two songs "B1llionz" and new single "Lagga" mixed together - "B1llionz" is a seemingly random re-entry at #87 on the official chart and at #12 on the video streaming chart (no remixes have been released, views for the music video are only up ever so slightly), whereas "Lagga" is nowhere to be seen on the latter, but amassed 955k views, according to YT Charts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think "Lagga" could have gone top 40, if not for this error.

Sounds about par for the course for the video streams chart.

I did think it was odd that B1llionz had such a boost just from the new single being released - of course it’s the OCC messing up video streams again :’)

"Dance Monkey" re-appearing in the Top 40 moves it into a clear 9th place with 51 weeks Top 40 (previously a tie with Pharell Williams' "Happy" on 50 weeks.

Next target is Acker Bilk's "Stranger On The Shore" on 52 weeks.

The OCC seem to make mistakes like this pretty often. Pretty incompetent imo

reminds me of when Girls Need Love re-entered the top 100 not too long ago for no apparent reason, did we ever get an idea of how that came back??
I'm also a little suspicious about 'Backyard Boy' by Claire Rosinkranz entering the top 100 last week somehow when it doesn't appear to be anywhere even close to the top 100 on any platform. According to Joseph it had very minimal numbers in both sales and video streams so it was getting its numbers from audio streams... but where? The only reasonable explanation I can think of is maybe Kworb is glitching and showing it much lower than it should be on Apple Music.

I think we just assumed it was a mistake. There was no feasible explanation for it returning other than that

but if Youtube reports wrong figures, the OCC cannot know... I mean I guess the OCC trusts the info that Youtube gives them.

the worst mistake I can remember is when Eminem released Relapse

and In Your Head charted as one of his 3 tracks but it wasn't that high anywhere so it was clearly an error and

they got the figures mixed up with another album track

  • Author

none of the ATs were that high either, it only got so high cos the sales and streams of it and (I think it was) 'Like Home' were combined into that one position. (and it was Revival)

I think the worst OCC mistake has to be when for whatever reason the iTunes pre-orders of that One Direction album somehow counted as sales for two of their (then-)album tracks which then went top 40 because of it, still don't get how that happened.
